They count it from thr first day of sickness till the last. I think they also inc bank holidays as well. :d'oh!

yes they do, because they can.

it is up to you to at least raise that issue with your lino, when you go in for the meeting.

e,g. if you are off sick for 2 weeks it's 10 working days, just the same as when you are off on a/l for 2 weeks - it's [ex-4day wks etc] 10days, you do not class the days off or weekends as part of the the annual leave, so yes, the number of days is a bit contorted "in their favour".

If you intend returning to work on a Monday, you have to inform them on the Saturday to ensure they don't count the Sunday.
So if you went sick on Monday and didn't inform them it would be 7 days.
If you did inform them then it is only 6 days.
If you were off Thurs - Tues (inc) it is 6 days.

I believe this issue arose because of self-certification for the first seven days of sickness?? but don't quote me on that :wave :wave

how can they count sundays though. its not a work day in a delivery office. if you phoned in sick on a monday morning they would start your sick on the monday, but if you phoned the office on a sunday and got through to the office answer machine to say you wouldnt be in on the monday, they cant count the sunday cos its not a work day. yet, as you correctly say, it gets counted on the back end of a sick absence? :crazy: they please themselves as it suits them.

All we can do is pay and support a union to try and hold back the flood waters. :pray
