Useless Rep
Hi, our "rep" haha, came into the office with the planner. They then proceeded to discuss the proposals to the office. I found the rep was totally dispicable as he discussed the persons future with RM without consulting person in question before. He never even spoke the the opg! He said either they will have to move to another office, or the worse. Then he said about another opg that they will have to accept less hours( they were not even present). He then said that with the van share that the full timer will have to take their meal relief at he end of the day!
this is not acceptable and against all rules. How do I get this rep out as this is discusting he is supposed to be on our side? PLEASE HELP.

Re: Useless Rep
Get other members to back you at least five and go to your area rep,but don't do it behind the reps back, face to face, toe to toe and stand your ground your rep sounds like he's batting for both teams.

Re: Useless Rep
Taking breaks at the end of shift is illegal you take it before you leave and no union man or manager can tell you other wise.you and your members are the union so use the power you have they can only throw empty threats about tell them to put any complaints in writing and that you refuse to take your break at end of shift.change comes from standing your ground don't get angry don't get stressed simply do your job and they can't touch you.organise a vote of no confidence get rid of this idiot and work to rule it will take some time but after a while showing that your not giving in will break the bastards and they will make the mistakes not the staff its up to you all right now so think of the future and sort these bullys out.

Re: Useless Rep
Full timers can take half their break at the end of their shift.
The other 20mins has to be taken within the first 5hrs.

We take our breaks at the end of the shift its commonplace i dont know anyone who as a break onthe round i have even had managers say you will work to your time not 40 min before end of duty and when i say ok ill take my break now then they soon back down .I want to take a break but nobody else in an office of over 100 doesRTP wrote:Full timers can take half their break at the end of their shift.

This sounds like a situation I faced last week
I visited one of out two spdo,s with the revision planner, (I'm a rep) my Dom had assured me that he had spoken to the staff in question and everything was ok.
Anyway it turns out that the young girl opg who wasn't built into the spdos new jobs hadn't even been told by our Dom, although of course there is a position and potential hours increase at our office, though it's maybe 10 or so miles from spdo
I didn't even discuss anything with her well because I didn't realise
The same for one of the day off dudes I think he only did a couple of days but once again Dom said all fine, same story he had no idea but luckily he was ok doing one day apparently.
Made me look like a complete berk. Our revision is due in end of jan but god knows how it's gonna go
Maybe you need to speak to the rep ? Probably best these revisions are killing us.
I find a lot of things are misunderstandings caused by managers!
Good luck

Re: Useless Rep
Surely under the agreement you should have had full input, consultation and been shown the ropes on how to use the tools - well at least that is the theorymandelsons_toenail wrote:justdeno wrote:Hi, our "rep" haha, came into the office with the planner. Re: Useless Rep
If you're the rep and you are asking that question there is obviously a wide gap in CWU training of unit reps.mandelsons_toenail wrote:What do you mean?

Re: Useless Rep
Yeah I know them both quite well
What do I do report my Dom for being incompetent.?
I'm fully into all the tools etc
I'm not a manager however and discussions with staff regarding where they are needed isn't my job

Were you not involved in the planning, where the hours were going in or going out did you not sign it off as agreed, did you take a vote on the revision?mandelsons_toenail wrote:Yeah I know them both quite well

Not voted yet.
Yeah rounds tested in georoute
When there are only so many hours something has to give. So either the most junior postie on seniority comes out of office ( contract isn't for set office btw) or we make more people in spdo part time, and some ft posties become part time, it's pretty simple?
I have to question whether the spdo has many union members? My job as a rep is to try and look after my members isn't it? Or am I supposed to support everyone? Assist every single rm employee even if they are not a union member?
Ive stood on many a picket over the years, what for? I may as well not be a member then if not being a union member entitles me to the perk of a reps assistance.
You can't have it both ways? One out all out surely?
The problem with my office and spdos are that people will quite happily take all the benefits and all the money and bonuses but won't pay a couple of quid a week to support the union that in turn helps keep terms and conditions up and keeps people on decent wages and a union that tries its best and when and if a strike is called they will quite happily work and disregard those workers who's kids aren't eating, who's bills aren't being paid and who has sleepless nights over money.
I'm alright jack attitude. It's not on.
Harsh but true
These bloody revisions have almost killed me and I try so hard but so many people to try and please.
However I also feel incompetent management haven't helped and nor has the lack of management support for our smaller offices over the years
More of a they'll be ok attitude
