CWU to launch campaign at Postal Industry conference Tuesday 4th December

The Communication Workers Union will launch a major campaign at Tuesday's high-profile postal industry conference - The Future of UK Postal Services, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel - Tower of London, London.

Dave Ward, CWU deputy general secretary, will announce a major initiative to protect the universal service in the face of mounting threats. This will happen during the morning session of the conference, to an audience including the leaders of postal companies throughout the UK. It will include the threat of specific action by postal workers.

CWU wants high quality, affordable postal services for all parts of the UK and decent jobs for postal workers across the sector. The campaign will address both these aims and full details will be disclosed on the day, including details of the proposed action.

Where: The Future of UK Postal Services Conference, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel - Tower of London, London.

When: morning, Tuesday 4th December 2012

CWU is the largest trade union in the postal sector representing people working in all parts of Royal Mail Group, as well as the Post Office, UK Mail and elsewhere.

Dave, Billy and Co are going to do a delivery in one of the failed areas every day for a month to prove that they are possible - but they may call it off after two days it will depend if there is a canteen attached. if not it'll probably be a token one day delivery.

I believe it is in an effort to demonstrate to Royal Mail that they still have some semblance of control over the membership, whether that's true or not will be in the proof of the pudding. The CWU must find it quite difficult wearing two hats, still yer makes yer bed etc..........

Don't worry the CWU will be having a christmas bash alright and at the memberships expense, however in accordance with cutting expense it will only be cheap caviar but the champers will still be top dollar.

They gonna tell us something that will benefit us the workforce, for a change!
We will all have a wonderful Christmas and that Santa and his elves are going to do all of our deliveries for us in one hit and that all mail, packets, tracked and specials will all be delivered on time and that we'll not have to do any lapsed duties, cutoffs etc. And that we'll all be paid at double time too!

If it is a case of boycotting DSA is it going to be a specific day. Why would they ever reach the delivery office in the first place if everyone, Network and MCs are also boycotting the product - or is it a case of leave it to deliveries again? TBH I have heard the rumour but if it is that and if it is for a single day I just wonder what the impact would be.
