Yes you can but I believe they have to warn you in advance that any further absences will be subject to the attendance procedure.

 Absences which are disability-related may be counted where it is justifiable
to do so (and the manager should take advice on this at any Stage under
the procedure ) and in these circumstances the employee should be given
advance warning that future absences will no longer be discounted and the
reasons recorded in writing.

1. A manager should always seek advice from HR Advice Centre.
2. A manager should always seek advice from Occupational Health Service.
3. The member has to have been previously warned in writing that their sick absence has reached an unacceptable level.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Yes you can - and mainly because managers think that without an appeal process for stages 1 and 2, they can do whatever they like.
I'm not sure many of them have any training on or understanding of disabilities.
They assume that most people won't bother using the grievance procedure to overturn their decision.
If/when it comes to a stage 3 it will get thrown out.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
