I went for an interview to be a 'Postman with Driving' a few weeks ago and have been offered the position conditionally
On friday the status on the jobs site said ''Processing security checks DS'' , Today it says Just ''Processing security checks'', Does this mean the Disclosure Scotland one is done already in 2 days?
How long do you think it will take before I get a start date?
It has taken me about 5 weeks to pass security checks and get a start start of 03/12. So you could be a while yet. I think it depends how busy or bothered they can be.
My security checks started on November 2 and were complete on the 16th.
Had my induction on the 20th and started on the 21st.
But as I find out whilst talking to others at the induction it does vary a lot some waited 6 weeks for their security checks to be passed.
Mine was supposed to be a driving job aswell but apparently you need to go out for a drive with a RAC man before you can go out on your own( mini test).
They told me that they cannot book the RAC man until after Xmas, so I'm on the bike.
I don't mind though keeping me fit.

ive been driving since day one and nearly been doing the job 12 months no driving test yet.
Don't get your hopes up on driving duties unless your office has gone onto park n loop
I've been in the job 15 months and only driven a van once!

I recently had a driving assessment, having joined a couple of months ago. The assessment involved a briefing on booking a van out, basic checks to be carried out on the vehicle and how to fill in the log book. I then drove the van: approx 1 mile in a 30mph limit, then just over a mile in a 70mph limit and a final 1 mile back in a 30mph limit. All this was done before 7am on a Saturday morning, so the roads weren't exactly busy. And that was it!

... It only took 5 days for all the security checks to clear, I was expecting weeks.
I just had a text from RM saying I have been booked on a course next week. What the course is, I have no idea , Induction maybe? They said theyll email me with info in a few days.

Most likely your induction day then you start in the DO the next day.
We were told today that all delivery inductions have been suspended until after Xmas, the days are needed for Xmas casuals in mail centres, once again the coal face has to struggle

Just got the call :D Induction Monday, Start Tuesday woop woop. Contract of temporary - 6 Months, Ending 3rd June 13. Is there a chance of being taken on permanent or do they keep giving it rolling 6 month temp contracts?

That's odd. As I am having mine Monday on the south coast. Start in DO Tuesday.
