Unable to come off the Drive List

Just a question about whether Drivers are allowed off the drive list, if they are unfit for driving duties.
In my DO, no one is allowed to come off the drive even if medically unfit , request a transfer or apply for EVR if they are Drivers.
There is a number of Drivers who through injury or illness have requested to come off the Drive, as we have just had a resign these people were even prevented from signing for indoor duties or walks, now after the resign and the confirmation from ATOS that they are unfit for Driving Duties, management are now considering Medical retirement and severance, and they had the seniority to get a walk or indoor duty but were not allowed to use it. any one have any idea where these people stand (no puns please).

Does it depend if you voluntarily took on driving duties some time after starting working for Royal Mail or if you applied and got accepted for a job that specified driving duties ?
And why not not be able to find your driving licence next time the six monthly check comes round ?

In our office if you want off the driving you just put it in writing to the DOM. I cant believe the management stopped/prevented people on drive picking a walk or indoor duty on re-sign. Seniority is seniority.

What is all this drive list about? Never heard of it in our office. I do not get paid any extra for driving a van. So when a resign comes up all the duties are listed and you pick one on seniority.If i fancy doing a walk duty i will sign for it. Likewise if a walker wants to do a drive duty they can . Simple?
