Hello all, Has anybody experienced or know of anybody who has been put forward for IHR who do not want to take it and seen the company doctor and they have said they are fit for work? Is that then the end of the matter.Thank you

yes, i was awaiting a right knee replacement, they sent me to the atos pantomime doc, who gave me a medical ''examination''. ,,,,,,he asked me to bend my knee. i did. it made a ''crunching'' noise. he then said i would not be able to do a delivery anymore. i should be medically retired. the union objected, i had my op (was off for 3 months) came back on rehab for 8 weeks, then back on full delivery. by this time though we had done our dm revisions and i use a lwt all the time. i couldnt do the job without it as i can walk for 5 hours easily, but without any weight on my shoulder. i would not be able to carry a heavy bag without severe consequences on my knee. i am currently off sick recovering from my left knee replacement. go back on rehab in january.,,,,however just because the doctor has said you are fit for work, did he tell you in WHAT capacity, i.e. light duties/sorting/driving etc, or has he said you are fit for normal duties??

thanks for the reply. Atos are saying I am not fit for work so I have to see a doctor but I have not had my treatment yet so how can they say I may be IH retired when I have not had the opportunity to have the procedure.

its normally a 9 month window before they can get rid of you, i.e. if you are going to be or are likely to be off work for the forseeable future (9 months) they can ill health retire you. obviously this timescale would be greatly reduced if you,re sickness/inability etc is proven to be absolutely certain, to an extent that you cannot carry out you,re normal duty. but even then, they are obliged to find you alternative duties that you are capable of doing. ill health retirement is supposed to be a last resort.....however,,,in the current climate they are trying to chop the workforce anyway they can. good luck.
