Collections in the afternoon extra money ?

Do you get extra money for doing collections in the afternoon?

Nope, it's SA rate but all rates are the same up until 40 hours (and SA is always put through first).

But different over 40 hours ?
I'm on £10.15 SA and £9.87 overtime first 10 hours, 28p an hour difference.

It's normal pay rate up to 40 hours, then SA rate. So if the afternoon collections are above the 40 hours worked, then SA rate kicks in. Less than 40 hours it's normal pay rate.

I learned that after being told by a manager (incorrectly) that I'd get SA rate for doing an afternoon colln for them at Xmas... then being told by another manager (who knew what hours I was contracted to work) that you don't get it until 40 hours.

I did collections for a bit, found them very tiring to be honest when you've already done a walk, not my cup of tea even though the job itself is ok, it won't be coming up to christmas though.

I don't do collections after mid Nov til mid Feb cos it's the worse time of the year, dark and horrid. Then again I'll never do a SA again cos revisions are kicking in and the SA starts at 4pm til 7pm.

Just to add that SA folks gets a bonus from time to time. I don't do SA but once I had to drive for a disqualified SA driver and found out months afterwards that I got a very small bonus for doing just one SA of 3.15 hours.

SA works best for those that live close to their delivery offices. But then again with later starts, some people are really struggling to get a small break before starting SA. At Xmas - it might get harder!

If collections are scheduled attendance duty's, then you get paid s.a. rate, regardless of how many hours you have worked...it's not overtime.......even a p-timer on 25 hrs, if he works an extra 5 hrs on a scheduled duty, he gets paid s.a. rate. That's the whole point of s.a. duty's......they are not overtime.
