The first meeting is in Scotland tomorrow.
I'm sure one of our regular posters will give us a report .....unless there is a CWU requested blackout.

It was to do with the legal standing if what was said got put on to media sites. it was not a total blackout. I believe most now know what is planned without someone having to put it on here or facebook etc. Basically a fight is brewing or it maybe just threats, only time will tell but we won't have long to wait to find out. Links were made between our industry and the miners, but I can't see people doing protests like that. As Bob Gibson said in Greece and other European places they protest with anger.
We protest on message boards from our armchairs! Hoping someone else will take care of the problem. In 2 years we could be classing these times as the good times!! I see things getting a lot worse before anything potentially gets better. Are Members up for a fight? Perhaps someone could do a ballot of, would you take industrial action to protect your future employment from privatisation or competition?? I'm not sure how you do that on this site

Why isn't everything out in the open now? The CWU has a website, TV and other avenues of communication and yet it's back to the (un)smokey rooms nowadays but nevertheless the same sort of scenario as though the membership needs to be fragmented anymore than it already is. They are a bunch of clowns who need to realise this is not the 70's, the membership is more than capable of reading and understanding any missive from above - as far as members being up for a fight.......................the CWU made it's own bed and must suffer the consequences, you lie down with dogs and end up with Joint Statements.

i couldn't get to the meeting ... staff shortages royal fail are unwilling to replace 3 full time staff even with part timers and we are struggling to cover duties .... i am just waiting for the s**t to hit the fan at christmas cause i won't be bailing them out just the opposite i will be cutting off and refusing to do overtime ..... overtime = first 10 hours normal rate after 10 hours less than normal rate .... i don't think so

Very informative

they talked a good game between leaving the room every 5 minutes during reps questions and comments.

Also somebody was using the old tactic of turning the air con to freezing after the top table had finished..we all just wanted to get outside to warm up.
