ill health retirement payment

hi i have been refered to atos for a meeting with one of there doctors about ill health retirement, i have been off now for six months and am now on half pay. i was just wondering what my payout would be, would i only get everything on half pay or would it be based on my full pay, i have been with the company for 5 years and because of my situation i would like to take the payout.

Its about 36 weeks pay + 12 weeks in lieu of notice.

I said YES on Friday & paid off a week later. Then JSA for 6 months, now working afternoons indoors

If your over 55 take your pension as well, its loosing money hand over fist

thanks very much for answering, its just to much with all the crap going on in our office now that i think its come at just the right time for me and fingers crossed if accepted for it i will get a bit out of it as well.

Hate to be a party pooper but don't get your hopes up royal mail are trying to get rid of people for next to nothing guy in my office was offered six grand for twenty years service.

Don't quote me on this but I've been told there is two forms of health retirement, Ill Health retirement and early medical retirement.(think it's called that) Supposedly if you retire on medical health (instead of Ill health) the payout is a lot larger. I'm not sure what is required in either aspects but it may be worth looking into before you accept Ill health retirement.

Well my advice would be struggle on until you reach 64 and a half, then go long term sick and get paid for 6 months at full pay then retire.

thanks for your input dvbuk only problem is i am 64 and a half but had afew months off earlier this year with a hip replacement which is also starting to give me grief and with another issue unable to take painkillers aint life grand.

Unlucky tony I know the feeling about the pain killers though, like you due to other medication I'm unable to take Ibuprofen based tablets which is a bit of a ball ache because I've had a frozen shoulder since July but I don't want to go to the Drs and end up taking even more tablets than the 11 a day I take already.
