Travel Time To Other Office

If I have to travel to another office to work for the day and it takes longer to travel there than to my regular office, should the extra travelling be done in work hours? i.e. get there 15 minutes after my start time if it takes me 15 minutes longer to get there.... thx.

Yes the travelling time is to be included in your contracted hours

It depends on the circumstances.

If it's a permanent move then you should arrive at the official starting time, no travelling time will be included.

However if it's a temporary move, say to cover a duty, then the rules say that you should go to your own office first then travel to the new office during your working hours. They also say that you should be returned to your own office in time to finish at your normal time.

Thanks guys. Manager at other office had a go at me today for arriving 15 minutes late, I said to him it was travel time and also I'll be leaving 15 mins early. Tried to tell me that the extra time was paid for because they pay you petrol allowance. Knew it was a load of bollocks. He even asked me how I knew it - I said go speak to the union rep. They treat you like s**t and lie to you in this job. Marvellous isn't it.

I always thought that if you were being paid travel expenses then you got to the other office at the normal start time just like working at your everyday office

The travel costs are to ensure you are not at a financial disadvantage by working in another office(petrol costs).
The travelling time is to ensure that you are not at a time related disadvantage by working at another office.(having to leave earlier or getting home later).
Two separate issues.
