Runners

Post by fng »

To be honest up until this week, I thought the term "Runner" meant someone who cut corners, walked too quickly, jumped fences etc and not someone who runs.
Im partnered this week with someone who actually RUNS round  I couldn't believe it. I asked him about it and he said he has always done it.
Sarcasticly I asked if he gets paid more for finishing early, he gave me a very serious answer of no.

Obviously..... I speeded up and ran round my part of job so i could keep up with him and not keep him waiting at the van for me to finish....... :left: :cuppa

When we finished 45 mins early, it was him that said we cant go back yet its too early, we need to get back at the right finish time !!! so we sat around the corner from the office and waited.....is it me? or whats the point in all that? :cuppa :cuppa

We have a handfull of wannabe Usain Bolts.
As they are the minority we're not to concerned about them except one - He's DDA and on one of the easier rounds due to having had a knee replacement a few years ago

A lot of people think posties must be fit but this isn't true because what we do isn't cardiovascular exercise.
Running around your duty is an excellent way to keep fit and not pile on the pounds.

I have always run around my delivery.
Instead of finishing early though I use the time I make to do some extra hillsprints midway through my delivery.

Sitting around waiting to go back is one way to encourage them to offer you your P45.........

I bunny hop round my walk, however it's awkward with the LWT.I find it very good for the knees and clears up plantar facilitis very quickly.

I run in my spare time................so I'm too knackered to do it during my work hours :nervous

Unless I need an urgent poo and then running can be necessary :nervous

Just do it in your pants and shake it out of the trouser leg - don't be stopping during work time for a crap, you've 16 hours of your own time for that sort of thing

Another thread about people obsessed with runners and how its wrecking the job. Give the boy a break. If he wants to run and keep fit, let him do it. Just concentrate on yourself.

This is true. In knackers you out, but not in a cardiovascular sense where in improves fitness. Instead the walking and getting in and out of vans just puts bad pressure on your joints making you more likely to be eventually crippled than fit.

I mean all the walking does do something for your legs, but not not much.

For me, it just makes my joints ache so that it limits the real cardiovascular fitness that I can do when I get home.

These type of posties are to be found in most offices...i have seen some of them back at 11.30 am in the past to do their overtime having literally ran round their own duties using their cars in the process!
You can't talk to them..they are complete and utter tossers..and seem hell bent on trying to impress managers and making a complete mockery of the job...i tend to find most are very insecure and always looked stressed for whatever reason...you know..always on edge..drinking cups of coffee by the gallon, eating while sorting/prepping walks,i really don't know where RM find these idiots from.

some of the runners in our office will not talk eat or drink just hammer around. They actually show symptoms of aspergers, that's probably why the manager lets them get on with it.

Whenever I get one of these so called "runners" doing my round on my holiday or day off, I get all the grief the next time on my round with people moaning about missdeliveries and them walking across their garden, half written 739's,undelivered D2D's etc.

Obviously I vault over all the gates etc but a colleague has introduced me to the technique known as the Fosbury Flop to get over higher obstructions.
This has increased my suppleness no end - so much in fact that I can almost use that stupid tray at the bottom of the HCT MK11.
