Royal Mail managers are going to find it very difficult to manage office or individual performance while job&finish continues.gb93 wrote:It never will be over, it suits to many people for it to end completely.

Several years too late.
Cause's mistakes
Cause's mistakes
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I would say to the contrary job&finish makes it easier to manage individual performance.fishtank wrote:Royal Mail managers are going to find it very difficult to manage office or individual performance while job&finish continues.gb93 wrote:It never will be over, it suits to many people for it to end completely.
"So&So can get finished before time" "if you cannot its a individual performance issue"
Now if RM takes the carrot away of job&finish for the flyers it would give managers less rope to hang others.
But they wont. And things will go merrily on as they have for ever & a day.

Re: CWU Wembley Poster - Comments Please
Well the poster itself may not be wrong! Turns out the CMA Vs Royal Mail "negotiations" have gone like this:
CMA: Conditions For Our Members Are Getting Worse
Royal Mail: Those "terms & Conditions" where voluntary by YOUR members
Royal Mail walk away
Apparently there will now be a success or fail tests for DOM's and Line managers. Included with all roles will be NVQ's. No-one gets made up without application either! Now those who will probably fail will be "job & finish" managers. What is disappointing is "job & finish" members.
Nothing works on revisions if both workforces do not understand the science of the revision!
Some unit reps are quite fed up with being spoken to by members as if unit reps where managers!

That's not managing individual performance.gb93 wrote:I would say to the contrary job&finish makes it easier to manage individual performance.
"So&So can get finished before time" "if you cannot its a individual performance issue"
.
If a manager said that in our office they would get laughed at.
The only real weapon Royal Mail have is the agreement to work all paid hours but it's a blunt weapon if they constantly allow some members to finish early and try to apply "work all paid hours" to others.
Management are struggling to apply the principle of "flexing up" in delivery offices for the same reasons, some members are cutting off while others are finishing early which is leaving managers having to justify paying overtime to cover excess while watching other members go home early.
The managers i've spoken to about this are moving away from the idea of job&finish themselves because it actually makes resourcing more difficult and it certainly makes any real discussion about individual or office performance pointless.

"inform your reps" in our office there is only one rep, "his" crew all job and finish, its a closed shop and has the backing of the manager. :dcfo
