Membership Subscription rates from 1st January 2013

In accordance with CWU Rule 11.5.1 the NEC has decided to increase subscriptions of all members by 3%.
From 1st January 2013, CWU subscriptions will therefore be as set out below.
In order that members are charged the correct subscription it is important that all new
Member's record their weekly working hours in the space provided on the Application Form as well as recording their employer.

In 2009 the equivalent subscription was £2.92....now it's £3.43.
17.5% increase in 4 years...i'll let you work out what next years pay rise would have to be.

The problem is no-one wants to volunteer to get off the the gravy train at the next station so on we go constantly upping the subs and wondering why members keep leaving and no-one wants to join,

Eventually two members will be left each paying £15 million in subs but as long as the money keeps coming in no-one at HQ cares enough to make real,serious changes to expenditure.

You've just given me an idea - how would it be if we started something like that TV program where people exchanged homes for a fortnight. We could recruit overseas postmen in say Sri Lanka, Barbados, Tenerife..............you get the idea - we could class it as a "working holiday" and then the following year we could claim the money back............I'm sure Billy wouldn't want to have better working conditions than those people he purportedly represents.

Then of course how many "Virgins" are going to be ready to hand over money to a Union that isn't recognised? - what price representation then? I notice they always raise the price of the subs BEFORE they've negotiated our pay rise............sooooooooo how much over the 3% can we expect?

Wonder how far the £29,000 would have gone towards tribunals AND the £133,000 set aside for others to claim. Perhaps a little less helping out and more a case of helping themselves
