Rights to a day off

hi,,,coming up to a revision for park an loop,,,,,repick will be soon,,,,heard it will be after xmas now so some sense prevails but only having 9 years in im at the back of the queue for a pick and a lot of part time staff ALL with many years less service will get a pick,,,so the planner showed me i was to be a full time reserve.

I asked the questionto him about my day off and he became vague,,,LOL sorry vauger and said when in the new system i would have to argue the point then.

at the moment i have a walk,,,and the day off like all duties is,,,monday 1 week,,,next week tuesday and so on.

i watch our d.o.m swapping the spare lads day off each week to mondays or tuesdays,,,for obvious reasons.....so i asked each of the spares and they hardly ever (in there words) get thurs,,,fri or sats off.

were do i stand do we have any agreement to any kind of rights i would have as a spare......i know i`ll keep a weekly check to the days off and if a pattern of mon and tues pop up i would be inclined to a greavance going in.

According to the 2010 agreement there should be a minimum of 1 in 4 sats off for all staff including reserves. My office has not had a revison yet but our reserves have a rotating day off the same as everyone else.

Apparently my office voted against 1in 4 saturdays before I arrived. I'm a leave reserve and my day off is not rotational. I don't normally know next week's day off, before friday. To date I've only had 2 saturdays off in 9 months. This only after I've complained about it. Where do we stand reguards days off, as reserves?

You don't,as a reserve you are treated like crap and if you know before friday then consider yourself lucky,me and my fellow reserves never knew until saturday and sometimes it wasn't until we had finished our rounds.

Your rep should be ensuring you get fair days off at the weekly resource meeting.

everybody f/t or p/t should get rotating day off either 1 in 4 sat off or 1 in 6 sat subject to your office position pre park n loop or not. if you are not getting rotating day off up to union rep to get finger out to get what we voted for and what rm put to as a fair deal for all!!

I have seen them come into our office on Mondays and was told "its your day off today" and they get sent home because managers could not be bothered to do the duty's till last thing Saturday morning and buggered off home without telling them.

we have always been told rm push for a split of 75% full,,,,to 25% part time weve seen the duties for the revision and it will be that,,,,,,but at the moment just before the revision were up to 40% + partime and it kills the office for bodies on the primary and throwing in walks,,,theres not enough full time there.

As a reserve you 'should' get the day off of the duty you are covering,ignore that operational reason bollox the screws come out with.

Reps AND rotating day off colleagues should be behind you with this,too many lazy arses who don't give a f**k in the job.

My office seems pretty good in comparison. Two years in and I'm now full time permanent reserve but I always know what I am doing next week and the week after (example, there's a rota for next week and the following week already on the wall) and I'm getting a good mix of days off including a saturday every four/five weeks and even a couple of long weekends recently!

Granted, very rarely get a wednesday or thursday off, but I don't mind.
