half pay

what are the guidlines for going onto half pay.Is it 6months in any one year. I know it's 1 year in 4 then it's no pay.

its the same for both = total 6 months in 4 years then 1/2 pay

Yes, that's right. There are two rules:

1. 1 year off in a 4 year period and it's onto no pay.

2. 6 months off in any 12 months and it's half pay.

Rule 1 applie if both criteria are met.

People always confuse things by talking about 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay, but it's possible to go on to no pay without actually going on to half pay.

Still non the wiser and don't want to ask my manager. Unless they have changed policy in the last 2 years it is 6 months in a 12 month period. Alot of my colleagues want to know as since this revision they are dropping like flies in our office.

If you have been off for a total of 6 months in the last 12 months then you will go on to half pay. It doesn't have to be a continuous 6 months. But you need bear in mind the 1 year in 4 years rule as that will override the half pay rule.

So then it's 6 months in a 12 month period and not 6 months in a 4 year period? this is what i thought rang HR but they were no help.

As far as i was aware it's 6 months over a 4 year rolling period eg:

May 2010 you were off for 2 months
Aug 2011 you were off for 2 months
Nov 2012 you're off for 4 months,so after the 1st 2 months you will be on half pay.

Also after half pay you do not go on no pay,you get sick pay at pension rate,not sure for how long though.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Was told that if you go 12 months without any sick you're be OK.

Not everyone is entitled to sick pay at pension rate though, if you don't pay into the pension then you won't get it.
