The boss at work reckons that Royal Mail are now using an electronic tracking devices to target the problem of undelivered d2ds. Is this true? Surely it would be an expensive way of dealing with the problem!

This has been mentioned in our office aswell but I don't know if there is any truth to it. I don't see that there would be any useful information to gain from in either since D2D are unaddressed and there will always be some surplus anyway. Passive RFID tags are very cheap though,a few pence. Knowing Royal Mail though they probably pay well over the odds for them, as they do everything else.

I don't think you really need to be that clever.
People who dump D2D always get over confident.
It usually starts as a little maybe they forgot then they see that they get away with it and they get lazy,stupid and careless.
It's not that hard to catch them if you really want to...but some managers are just as lazy.

Also a big problem of people coming way before their time and redistributing their d2d's,it happens quite a lot in our d.o.I stack mine up next to a marker and take a piccie with my phone so I can tell straight away if mine have been tampered with.

rfid is cheap, people do get cocky and get sacked, just deliver them, they can phone people up

Its similar logic as those who say "its always in the last place you look" when trying to find something. Of course it is why carry on looking for it when you have found it.

In a similar vein if you dump d2ds on a regular basis, the chances of being caught increase each time. Yes some will never be caught, but why would anyone put in jeopardy a regular wage and a pension for the sake of a few bits of paper is beyond me. If you are caught jail time is a distinct possibility, and getting employment after a conviction is very hard, not to mention the knock on effects of your credit rating etc.

My frame is in a recessed corner of our DO, perfect for dumping D2Ds under, so I regularly get 'presents' from some lazy scumbag.

The usual suspects in our office are serial dumpers. However it's about poor management, our DOMs don't check if the D2D's are in the frame Monday/Tuesday, it obviously doesn't come high on the list of priorities, which is ridiculous bearing in mind how they keep telling us they are keeping us in business.

Some guys never have D2D's in the frame, and when asked claim they are putting them out ad hoc as they go on the round, which I would suggest is impossible to achieve accurately, some houses will get several and some none of the same leaflet.

I know of one person in our office who I can guarantee doesn't deliver them - DOM doesn't seem to care though, he just says IB will get him in the end. I always put them in and write what I've done to cover my back. If anyone accuses me of not delivering them I'd be happy for someone to go knocking on doors asking. It's not worth the risk.

A guy in my former office has been dumping his for years and still does. I've also known him to get in early and distribute his D2D's on other people's frames. Of course, he always denied it. Still does it and still gets away with it.
