Anybody got retained firefighter at their office?

Hello,

Just a couple of questions, anybody on here a retained firefighter or somebody at their office is?
Are you allowed to go out on a shout during work hours?

We have a retained fire fighter with us and he does not book on during working hours. We also have a first responder who does the occasional shout if one comes in really close to the DO

We have two in our office one of them uses his car so he is able to get to the shout even though the union said he was not to use it. When he goes to the fire station the mail just lies in his car till he comes back from the call-out then he resumes his delivery,no phone calls to the manager whatever.What will it take to waken him up?

FIREFIGHTERS (RETAINED) On taking up such an activity individuals specify their availability for call out. As the primary employer the expectation is that individuals will specify availability times outside of their normal duty hours to undertake what is in effect paid secondary employment. (E.g. it would be anticipated that an early delivery duty would preclude being available for call out between 5am and 1pm.)
Flexibility should be exercised on the occasion of major incidents either for release or where the employee is already attending an incident and therefore may be delayed in commencing duty. It is the employee’s responsibility to make every effort to contact the office where such delay may occur.

We used to have two, both have long gone now, during one fire alarm practice the PHG rushed around the three story building locking up and locked one of the retained firemen in the toilets

out at sea all night doing rescuse working for RM in morning!
