This 30 mins flexibility agreement

In our office the management claw back this 30 mins on a weekly basis..They argue we finish early on a Tues after lapsing for them... So on a Weds (or any other day) if i am a hour over my time they only pay me 30mins Saying I owe them 30mins due to this flexibility...Can someone please explain this to me it just doesn't seem right..

It isn't right.
They are abusing the "flexibility" clause in the 2007 Pay and Mod agreement.

Quite frankly it is embarrassing that this is going on up and down the country.
They call it swings and roundabouts.
They should call it illegal deduction of due wages.

Simple solution:
Don't finish early on a Tuesday.
Dont do any overtime for them ever again.

That's 'cause it aint right. There is no agreement as far as i know for the banking of hours, which this is. Why don't you finish at your due time on Wednesday, or any other day, and let your manager worry about getting it covered ?

It's a multi billion pound business not a playground! and there is no agreement for clawing back hours, if they can't find work to do on tuesdays (if you finsh early) that would appear to be their problem not yours. If they're not prepared to pay you your due Overtime, why should you be prepared to do it? Simple

There is a dispute in our area regarding swings and roundabouts which has now been taken up by divisional as a disagreement under the Industrial Relations Framework. Will provide more info as this goes forward.

To clarify the 30 minute thing is only optional and if you agree to flex over 30 minutes of your time as long as it is paid back by the end of the week i.e. Saturday 30 minute early finish, its in the agreement.

My boss tried that on with me calling it free overtime before he have to pay me, I reminded him of the agreement that stated it must be paid back by the end of the week, it has backfired on him since as
I now worked to my time and no later, when prior to the agreement I used to work over dropping packets off as a favour in return for extra docket, that stopped soon after and he had find somebody else stupid
enough to work extra for no pay.

Just ensure that you take enough including D2Ds on light days up to take you up to your time, that way they cannot play this stupid swings and roundabouts bollocks on you, don't rush its a mugs game now,
job and knock is long gone dead and buried, welcome to the brave new world of corporate back stabbing.

totally agree NW postie. this practice happens all over and those who are gullible enough will just accept it. I used to do extra at the DO and it suited DOMs until it did not suit. also, what about DOMs still going home early. one dom went on about working hours until I told the dom what about managers. that put paid to that discusssion
