Told by PHG to doortep parcels

Came back to office today after shift and PHG said that he had a customer in who wanted me to leave parcels behind her plantpot. I queried this as i was always under impression that doortepping was a no no but PHG seemed to get very defensive when i questioned him. Am i correct in refusing to do this request?

Behind a plant pot isn't secure.

Don't risk your job just because a customer says to do something. As for the "PHG"
1) its none of his/her business.
2) there is no such thing as a PHG anymore, he/she is the same grade as you.
Probably just doesn't want to put any extra packets away

Thanks guys thats what i thought. Not the first time i've had an issue with the PHG. Last year when i was off on annual leave for a week, my first day back i was told by him " how comes you always bring back so many parcels , when you were off last week there was nothing that came back". Im presuming that whoever covered my duty doorstepped the lot whereas i never doorstep anything. I do my job correct as far as i see yet im the one made to feel as if im not because i dont doorstep.

Not in and it;ll be getting P739 as usual then.

Following a customer complaint, delivery posties in my office were reminded by management that doorstepping was not allowed under any circumstances. They can try to deliver to a neighbour or return it to the office.

As far as I'm aware, you can only leave a parcel if a customer has informed RM of the "safe place" on their property.

Bottom line is if you don't have an instruction in writing, don't leave it.

It really pisses me off when someone phones up the office or comes into the callers office and they staff in there agree that there packet will be left somewhere. Or worse still agree to ask me if I will sign for something for them rather than just tell them straight away that what they are asking is not allowed. It is not right to put a colleague in a situation where they are pressured to do something they shouldn't then make them look bad if they follow the rules.

Safeplace is only for RM Tracked items where the safeplace is given on the item. No other items may be left.

We were recently told in a rare WTL session that any instructions on an item that requests the item be put somewhere that really is not safe if no answer at the door, we should ignore the request and either 739 it or leave with a neighbour. A big change from our last instruction on such matters, a few years back we were told that we were allowed to follow instructions written on an item, it was notes on teh recipients doors that were to be ignored as they are not the customers (the senders are).
