Leave help please

Hi
I am a bit confused about the different kinds of leave which can be taken, obviously I get annual leave but when can you use standby days and duvet days? If I needed a days leave short notice, for family reasons which leave would I need to ask for? Obviously I wouldn't want to take it as unpaid if possible as I still have annual leave in allocated to use.

I like the sound of those.

If you need a day off for family reasons you have two choices.
You can enforce your statutory right to Dependants leave in which case it cannot be refused but will be unpaid or you can ask for special leave which means that allocating it is at the manager's discretion but also allows them the option of either paying you special leave(A) or taking it as annual leave.

Gardening Leave's another good one but I've never been eligable for it in this or any previous job.
