Later starts

We have just been informed that as of next week we will be going over to 7am starts from 6am, Can they do this as i was under the impression that we had to be given a period of notice with regard to change of hours?

we start at 7 from week on monday from 6:30 at moment,dont think you have any choice mate,then after xmas it changes again to 7:30 start,not happy with either tbh

Not quite.

As part of the operational transformation the vast majority of full time delivery duties will start no later than 0700.

That's ok but it would seem that they're not even bothering with that, moving start times back beyond 7am because they can't sort out the sequencing machines........of course I still find it strange that the machines actually make things worse instead of better

I don't think it's anything to do with the machines.
I think the later start times are being driven by cuts in driving duties imposed/negotiated during Network 12.
By all accounts our sequenced mail spends more time on the MC loading bay than a chain smoking line manager.
No drivers allegedly.

AFAIK logistics will wait until an artic is full before sending it (meaning mail gets to MCs later and so gets processed later), with the runs between MCs and DOs now coming under logistics, then it's possible that the 600 or 17 tonner (whichever type of lorry you get) isn't being sent out until it's full

I'm a bit clueless on this - my current start time for most of the walks I do is 6:15 (I'm a spare/reserve so different walk each day, but most start then) and they finish at around 14:20 (13:20 on Tuesday). Does a 7:00 start therefore mean the end time shifts back as well?

Yes, but if you are going from 40 to 39 hr week hour week at the same time your finish times would be 14:53 rather than 15:05.

If negotiations about moving to a later start have been ongoing, they will regard that as the period of notice.
If there is union agreement to move the start times, they won't think they need to give you a further period of notice.
