P & L driver suspended today in my office as he supposed to have left the door unlocked on his van as he was getting a signature for a recorded delivery manager pulls up out and about checking posties and they opened the van door as he was talking to the customer. How easy is it to click the button? silly boy.

well its good to see your manager has time to follow drivers about during his duty or was he on his way home.
the whole office should now watch this so-called manager and when he clears off home early make sure a phone call is made to the area manager.

It is pathetically sad to read the depth some of these managers will stoop to, just to get a work colleague in the sh.te If the driver had gone off delivering away from his van then it would be understandable for that manager to give him a dressing down in private, and if caught again then suspend and go down the disciplinary route. Are these managers being paid some sort of hit money for every postie they can get rid of. You would have to be the scum of the earth to purposely put a man/womans job in jepoardy unless there is more to this than meets the eye.

He was told drive back to the office and this is where it happened so his loop partner tells me.

the manager could have had the spare keys to unlock the van,as for being suspended did any thing else happen.

I have locked the van before with the key, put it in my pocket and my bag has unlocked the van when the bag has brushed against my pocket.
Question is, would he have done it to one of his favourites?

Far enough for a manager to approach the vehicle and open the door while he stood chatting to the customer which i would suggest was too far.
Yes it was sneaky by the manager but it was still a dumb move to leave it unlocked.

Three things might keep him in a job.
1) If all the mail was secure in the back of the vehicle.
2) If the keys were not in the vehicle.
3) It wasn't IB.

Also be careful not to leave your PDA in the vehicle,those things might be worthless shite to us but leaving them in sight in the front of the vehicle even when it's locked is considered a security breach by IB.

We all signed the vehicle security terms and conditions this week. License checks due as well. If they can get rid of a full-timer they must be on commission or a bonus scheme. They will just replace with a new p/t person who obeys all their commands! Merry Christmas if you make it there!

what about trollies? i dragged a trolley around all day with me today. It does not come to the door with me. It stays out on the pavement while i go to the door so technically this is the same offence as leaving a van unlocked as the trolley has no lock, hell it dont even have a brake.

Also what about the ice cream trollies? we all know how easy it is to access those, even when they are locked so is the variable here the potential loss of the van and not the mail as unless you have a pouch over your shoulder Posties everywhere are leaving mail unattended everyday.
