I have resigned and left. When can I expect P45

I left Royal Mail a few weeks ago after going sick with stress and depression. I had not taken all my holiday entitlement and am not sure what payments are still owing to me. I want to claim benefits for a while but do not have an end date for Royal Mail. How long do people usually have to wait for their P45? What is the best way to chase it up? I am not feeling up to phoning anyone at the moment so if there is another way to sort this I would rather use it.

re holiday.....you wont get your whole holiday entitlement.
lets say you left at the end of september youd only have acrued half of your yearly entitlement so if you have taken half of it already youd not be due any.....if you have taken more then youd owe them.

It's actually worse than people think.

From 22 October 2012 if you do not meet the conditions you are asked to, without a
good reason, your benefit could be affected.
• You could lose your benefit for 13 weeks, 26 weeks or 156 weeks (three years), if
you:
− leave a job voluntarily or lose a job due to misconduct on your part
− fail to take part in a mandatory work activity programme
− fail to take on a suitable employment opportunity or,
− refuse or fail to apply for a job which your adviser has notified to you

The length of time will depend on whether it is the first, second or third time you
have failed to meet any of these responsibilities in the last 52 weeks (one year) of
the previous time.

And they wonder why the economy isn't growing.
Not only do people have very little to spend,what they do have they are s**t scared to spend in case they find themselves in this position.
Not very bright this Government.

in the OP's case imo go to your doctor and get a note/record of history of your recent illness which caused you to quit.

might also be an idea to get something off HR although they might be useless.....atos have to release info.

go to the dole office with this.


i got the dole under similar circumstances.

Thank you flaminmoses. Good advice right to the point . I am still sick but thanks for all the helpful suggestions offered by some contributors. I'll probably try and claim a sickness benefit first.
