GESTAPO TYPE MANAGEMENT

Post by DM66 »

we are all used to bullying, harrasssing and intimidating Managers but since this revison/modernisation crap has taken hold the things they are telling us are acceptable within the office are getting very like a dictatorship.
When sorting on the IPS in the morning its one to a frame -space out properly.....then its no talking....no drinking on frame..now this week they have put numbers up to tell each indvidual where to stand exactly and not to deviate from this. Its getting really scary and uncomfortable...how can these managers expect us posties to respect and work hard for them with treatment like this. It does make me wonder how far they are gonna take all this in the coming years. We are treated like schoolchildren these days and not grown adults. I actually find it humiliating and patronising. It si not a comfortable, relaxed working environment anymore and if you are not relaxed and worried about making mistakes....you are gonna make mistakes. I like to think I am one of the more hard working, get ya head down adn get on with it and keep out of managers way types of posties but I am feeling very stressed of late because of the relationship between us and management deteriorating more and more with all these changes. It really is us against them.

Us against them? More like every man/woman for themselves......

Why don't you ask Billy Hayes what he's doing about it? He got £29,560 in unused holiday pay and has recommended a further £133,000 be earmarked for the rest of his cronies on the NEC. He seems really worried about frontline issues, so much so he travels all over the world escaping from the reality. :no no

What the hell is the matter with our union? Times like this should drive membership up, strength through unity (and all that), yet we are getting weaker in the face of all this harrassment and bullying. HAYES OUT

Well he can only be voted out and I have more chance of winning the lottery. If a breakaway union was started it would spell the end of the CWU. The change has to come from within and yet the hierarchy is so entrenched there will be no change ............as for getting involved  no chance. It is a bit galling that those at the top ensure their terms and conditions improve year on year and rules invented to ensure that they receive the best of all possible worlds, whilst the members who they purportedly represent have worse conditions imposed.

Posties are begining to realise that we have a union not fit for purpose ..... not always the low RM salaries but the major point is increased workload imposed on its workers........

Profits are one thing...respect for your workforce is paramount...... The union seems misguided in their attitued to basic fundamentales of workloads and bad working practices imposed by management to suit everyday situations......

Royal Mail going to pot and nationwide the message from posties i have spoken to on my travel is basicially the same..... Not a good word to say about RM the company they work for and the public know it as well.......

Sad reflection of a company gone bad..... and little respect for their staff......

And the worst is probably to come for most of you.....in the coming years on many different fronts... you have been warned, it aint gonna get any easier.

The union top brass should hold their head in shame......highly paid and non effective and achieving so little.... that even the public know is bad with RM

I WONDER WHAT THE RM WILL BE LIKE IN 2525...OR WILL IT STILL BE RUNNING...?

Job security must be a major worry to most of you in the next 10 years.....

Is it not a case of Management seeing just how far they can continue to push a beaten workforce before our Union - grow a pair and - finally wake up to this cruel form of intimidation and decides that enough is enough.
When are we - as employees - going to let RM know we will no longer continue to accept being treated like this under their "gestapo type management".
We are employees and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, instead we are treated with contempt by managers who only see us as slaves - to be used and abused !! ( a description I have heard used by RM managers - and a phrase I had never heard used towards staff over many years of full time employment prior to joining RM )
RM's style of management is a disgrace and should be challenged and exposed for their dispicable attitude and actions that are frequently discussed on this forum. Does Ms Greene know that this is the reality of working for RM with this daily abuse directed towards her browbeaten staff.
In reality we are getting what we deserve if we are not prepared to take up the fight - now.
The very basics of trade union respresentation within a workplace is being openly challenged ( and soundly beaten - it appears ) throughout the business in various shapes and we are being badly let down by our leaders in the CWU. They must be well aware of this type of behavior by RM management, yet we do not receive any support from them at area level far less national level. They are making us a laughing stock of other Unions, and we seem to have lost all will to challenge any of these obscene actions described towards DO staff. This would not have been tolerated by our " forefathers", they must be turning in their graves at the situation we find ourselves in these modern times !! All THEIR sacrafices are gradually being eroded- we should be really proud of ourselves (NOT) !

See what is surprising in this debate is the union is aware of the bullying and harrassment in the workplace and there have been several recent suicides in delivery offices. The CWU have written to Branch`s and Divisional Reps and have asked for indivduals cases not heresay but real live cases which the CWU will take up.

The Union has also said that it will once recieved visit these offices and talk to people invoving ACAS. The problem I see is two fold I know some Branch`s have said there is none going on and then I know letters have come in from indivudals so it begs a question why the Branch did not consult properly within their office.

Equally some units will not write as they fear what management will do. However if they are being bullied they need to inform the union and the union needs to re-act.

As for creating another union its pie in the sky. I am all for changing the union but if you believe you are going to create another union or you think the RMT , Unite or GMB are going to get into an inter union row with the CWU then your mistaken.
However if you want to change the union or you want to turn back transformation then you better have an answer to the problems which this industry is facing and that includes , packets increasing , letters decreasing based on the CSS machines outputs not phoney counts , competition 50% of work which used to go to RDCs and the outward part of the mail centre now does not and now they are also delivering the work to the places they want and can make a profit on , the threat of privitisation including a 25% fire sell, plus a range of other issues. No union has taken strike action as many times as us and even at last weeks PEC 10 local strike requests were sanctioned. So the message is if you want a ballot request one , if you want a national ballot then you better start a campaign.

They are treating us like this because this revision is just not working and the only way they think it can be justified is by screwing us down thinking they will get more work out of us ,how wrong they are .All they end up with is a demoralised stressed out workforce, who have no respect for the management whatsoever. TO GAIN RESPECT YOU HAVE TO EARN RESPECT and if you treat your workforce well you will get more work out of them. :arrrghhh

Whose message is that dingo?
It's certainly not HQ's.
They are still pumping out the Joint Statements, still giving it the joint message.

Are ballots the only way forward?
According to the last agreement we had all moved on from that.
I thought we had a new relationship,a new understanding,i thought we were all in this together.
If as you say HQ understands the position and is willing to help why do we need a grass roots campaign?....again.
We did that in 2009 and HQ bottled it very quickly if i remember and we ended up with the very agreement that caused the mess we are now in so you tell me how to get members motivated to go through that again.
You could say if the members give up they deserve all they get, maybe they do but if HQ thinks it can sit on it's arse until the problem comes to them they also deserve all they get and what that is will become apparent if ever they find the bottle from somewhere to try to mobilise the entire membership again.

That's probably one of the most disgusting statements i've read on here.
A bit like the police saying we've heard there is a maniac on the loose but unless we recieve an official complaint we're going to sit on our arses and do nothing.

We don't want individual cases dealt with, that's divisive and time consuming and plays into Royal Mail's hands.
We don't want individual ballots because that just piles financial stress on top of the harassment on to the units that are suffering the abuse.

What we want dingo is someone with the bottle to march into Moya's office and demand that it stops across the business now or we pull support for everything and anything from revisions to World Class Mail and assume a position of outright conflict with the employer.
Only that may motivate the membership to start a grass roots campaign.
Do you know anyone at HQ with the bottle to do that?
I used to but he's....not the man he used to be. :cuppa
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I know of at least 8 grievances and 2 B&H cases put in against a manager in the north east region yet still nothing has been done.

Why do you have to wait for branch or division? Several suicides tell you that immense pressure is being put on our members on a daily basis.

I am absolutely horrified at the situations our members are being put in that they have to take their own life.

I agree with Fishtanks view !
The situation is all to apparent and individual cases only display the tip of an iceberg that has been allowed to float around for far too long, just waiting for the disaster to occur. The Union know and cannot pretend they dont - they do not need the lead from individual cases to carry out their work of addressing the problems that face our DO staff on a daily basis.
RM's senior management team have taken up the challenge with direction from the very top - our local managers only dance to the tune the big band plays - the prospect of conflict does not create any fear in them as it is all by design and the Union are now seen as an easy fight to take on. With this being their tactic our Union need to approach the staffs problems with some conviction and a lot better than simply ignoring the ongoing intimidation.
RM have set out their stall for all to see and this forum constantly exposes many of the problems that are all to apparent, what more evidence do they need to force them into action ? It is our Union that needs to take heed and accept that there are MANY problems that do exist and it is left for the poor staff to handle and deal with - that is suffer the daily intimidation in hope that SOME action/direction will be taken by the union to alleviate their work related stresses.

We've lost a good few staff with years of service because of bullying and the stress put on them ,it's constant day in day out So why not pull out the union for a while then? They might listen for a change.
