GENERAL CONFERENCE – COMPOSITE MOTION 48

At General Conference the following motion was carried:

This Conference instructs the NEC to organise National Protests outside both BT and PO Group Headquarters in relation to the changes to BT and PO Pensions, which devalues the Annual Index linking from that of RPI (Retail Price Index) to that of CPI (Customer Price Index). These Protests are to demand the restoration of RPI as a means of Annual Index Linking of BT and PO Pensions. The NEC should co-ordinate these protests with the Retired Members Advisory Committee and also Regional and Branch Retired Members Section Committees. The protests should be undertaken during the Spring/Summer of 2012 between May and September.

Due to other factors including the London Olympics and September being the main Political Conference Season we were not able to hold the protests during the months indicated in the terms of the motion.

We are now in a position to give a date for the Protest that will be held outside the Headquarters of the Royal Mail Group

Maybe there should be a pensions protest outside the CWU HQ in light of recent revelations.
