Just got an envelope through the door containing this nonsense.

It all looks reasonable enough, and inline with RM's agreed procedures, but it's a bit too vague for my liking (e.g. why doesn't it have information on when you trigger attendance stages? or what might constitute gross misconduct?)

I'm just curious, what prompted this?

Yes everyone got one. Mind you i've been off work for over 7 months and it looks like i'll be leaving on IHR!
Pretty much what i've received over the 20 odd years i've been in the job but in a glossy book. Used to be a 4 page printed leaflet, not much different except for the part about competition and taking mobile phone films and photos. Loved the bit about management responsibilities, pity most of them totally ignore these guidelines!

Oh the irony of being expected to read this pamplet out of hours for free, while I could not tell you the last time we had the national standard of 30 minutes WTL on a Tuesday.

Maybe its because we are too far away from the "model week" and managers know full well that 30 minutes traiing will cost them another 30 mins or more o/t... or more likely extra cut offs to do themselves until tea time.

It's pretty much the same document that's been kicking about for years.
I didn't really see much difference apart from a bit more corporate bull than usual.
My main thought was why did they send us a copy?...they don't usually bother.

Just thinking of the printing costs, 170,000 of these plus the envelopes , plus the postage (although discounted?) What a waste of dosh. Probably the cost of 20 extra part timers for a year
