The round next to mine is a joke!!

Just moved rounds, thought it was time for a change. Went from a town round of 570 houses to a rural of 270. Less mail, less d2d, more driving instead of walking etc. So far so good. The round next to mine does village/rural part and I do the rural houses near by.

Now I would say I am a fairly efficient postie, never claims overtime and works close to my time but never goes over. The duty holder on my new round before me claimed at least 1-2 hours a day on it. My problem is the round next to me is way too light. In our last revision the DOM moved things about and has no way balanced the 2 of them. I am certainly not one of his so called "favourites" or arse lickers so I know if I said something he certainly wan't listen. What also is annoying is that I was trained on my new round by the assistant manager and he along with our PHG, floater and the old duty holder all agree there is at least an hour and half difference between the 2.

And further still the duty holder lives on his round and does not come back to the office when finished. The DOM has mentioned before hand at morning meetings that everyone has to come back when done to drop pouches, PDAs and things but for some reason lets this slide. Im slugging my arse off and see his van parked outside his house with myself still got an hour or so to go. With him not travelling back to the office which takes about 20 mins he is saving even more time.

What would you do? Say nothing or speak up.

You should really only concentrate on your own duty and can you get that finished within your allotted time............everything else is your managers responsibility, you don't have to worry about it.

True it is my managers responsibility but it is so frustrating that he is the only one that can tweak a few streets and houses here and there but he is either too lazy or incapable to do so. I cant understand how he allows this person to not come back to the office when done.

If you let it eat at you then you'll just make yourself ill, just do your duty and let your manager manage.

I live on my P/L round at the end of my last loop but I deliver my partners last bundle whilst he takes the PDA's back and empty pouches etc.
Whats the problem
Only go back to the office if I cut off.

I have to say I agree with the other guys. As long as you are doing your walk to your best and finishing on time etc you have to be happy with that.

I really do see your point though and i don't think there is anything wrong with a bit of the green eyed monster over a somewhat easier walk, but lets be honest...... if the tables were turned, would any of us ask for extra work to fill our time

Its jealousy and its very natural in RM.Everybody always wants to know everybody elses business. I can imagine it being a dagger through the heart, seeing him at home finished everyday, especially if its pissing down and hes on the tea and biscuits . Dont let it get to you, some time soon it may be you getting a lucky break.

Indeed.
Yes, my walk's longer than most and, yes, some people I deliver to are paid more in a month, or even week, than I am in a year but I'm on double the pay of some people I know outside of Royal Mail and I could always look out for a better job.

In answer to the initial question,Why care that someone else is getting it a bit easier? Do your hours and one day in the future you will be the person who has it easier,Im sure you have it easier than others in your office?
