Hello,

I'm new to this site so please bear with me.
A fella in our office put something on Facebook what wasn't to do with work at all but it could of looked like it was. Anyways turns out the Dom Assit printed the Facebook page and gave it to DOM to try and get fellow worker in trouble.What is this place coming too? I'm just glad I'm to old for this Facebook.

Well the person was his friend on there at the time, plus it was nothing to do with work anyways.
I was just thinking how low some people go to try and get people in trouble

Multimedia harrasment is the new topic out there and everyone needs to be careful. What this would have to to with Royal mail though ive no idea

Depending on his rep and the manager, he's probably safe. Royal Mail would have to argue that its reputation was severely harmed by the 34 people he friended on Facebook reading a stray, vague comment ( Gosh, walking in the rain makes me feel sad :( )

I was told by a DOM and DSM that anything said onto facebook is the same as saying it in the DO...

Yeah he isnt getting done or anything, just the point of a collegue trying to get another one in trouble.

I watched "The Nazis, a warning from history" the other night. According to this series, the Gestapo had very few employees per town and nearly all their leads came from people denouncing their neighbours and workmates for not 'fitting in'. A certain number of denunciations would trigger a pull from the Gestapo. You were given a chance to improve but if you failed to meet the standards expected of you, you were sent to a concentration camp.

Should bring that system back, perhaps with not so many far right views but a few commeon sense views, it might help with hoodies and scroats and get them off the streets.

This is why I don't use facebook. Too many prying eyes in the big, wide world. Anyone who needs me has my phone no. Generally if I need to talk to anybody it's easy to do it more privately anyway - skype, xbox live, whatever. And then I can slag work off to my heart's content! Not that I would ever say anything derogatory about this fine, fine company!

not sure but i think printing off from facebook infringes the terms and conditions of facebook . so the doms pet is at fault and can have his account terminated

There was an issue with this at my place as well.

I used to have Royal Mail as my employer om facebook, but removed it immediately. Basically amything that I said - if 1 person found it offensive and it had my employers details - they could complain to Royal Mail who would see it as bringing the company into disrepute.

Most of the stuff was just footy banter - although with the situation in Scotland at present things can go too far.

Also, anything you say - it doesnt matter if you are friends with someone. A friend of a friend can see posts if 1 of your friends 'likes' it or comments on it. So for example you might not be friends with your DOM, but 1 of your friends is his friend. You post a comment and your friend comments on it. It will show up in your DOM's timeline.

So my advice, be VERY careful what you post on facebook and certainly do not advertise the fact that you are employed by Royal Mail (or any company for that matter).

Although, if anyone is caught out, then deny deny deny.

Facebook accounts can be hacked. People can leave devices and pc's logged in etc. Just because something is posted by someones facebook account does not automatically mean that the individual posted if his/herself.
