One of our casuals was escorted off the premises today and presumably sacked! Apparently he reintroduced mail into a post box instead of finishing his dutie. Silly boy!

I know he is a casual but is it that easy for RM to sack him on the spot? As permanent staff would be suspended under investigation!

In "minor" cases not involving theft RM usually give them the option of either being investigated,probably being sacked for gross misconduct and possibly facing criminal charges...or walking with a clean slate.
It's not a difficult decision if you're guilty.

Ay my old office everyone used to chuck their missorts into the box outside the DO when they came back, wouldn't get away with that at my new office

I thought you could bring back misssorted mail to the office. I Mean surely you're not expected to go around the delivery again with them?

Park and Loop is "once over the ground" and on the basis that the delivering officer has not neccessarily prepped the walk, any missorts should be endorsed as such and returned with other items such as p739's to go out again on the next available delivery. We asked whether someone with an HCT should have to walk back any distance with missorted mail and were told no - endorse and bring back for redelivery. Never EVER chuck them in a post box if there is a valid reason for their return.

Consider also whether anyone is disciplined at mail centres for the endless missorts recieved in delivery offices that are then delayed - s**t happens and should be dealt with sensibly.

Then again - one day World Class Mail will make everything perfect

Manager at my new office said to me if I have missorts it's my fault, first time prepping a walk so had a few brought back. She said in future I will have to take them round on my bike in my own time without being paid for it cause it's my fault. I just laughed. Cowbag. When I bring em back I hand em to locker so they can go out with SAs. Guy photocopied em all and gave em to the boss who collered me next day. w****r

If you have time to do it in your duty time then there is no argument.In your own time they can f**k off,we're not fecking robots.

I think there has to be a reasonable margin of error for mis-preps for the volume of mail we take out each day, I cant see how management can force people to work out of hours to correct mistakes.
Of course the correct procedure is to return any undelivered mail to the DO if there isnt sufficient time to deliver it, as long as the temp / PT person was trained with this knowledge he has no excuse.

I never bring back Mis Sorts. However, do have a few dogs loose, gate locked, Temporary No Access and other typical endorsements.

I was told to pouch off endorsed items. Put them in a blue pouch of bag and then post them in a post box. Is that wrong?

EDIT. Also to the OP. It must be nice to work in a office where you've got so many spare staff they can sack someone on the spot.

Okay. Sometimes I do that as well. I do make sure it's all endorsed and the whole lot is banded multiple times.
