Removal of CSS machines from 2 London Offices

I'm sure I read a LTB the other day, part of it concerned the removal of CSS machines from 2 offices in London.

Does anyone have any information about this.

The main topic was regarding the imposition of later start times, especially across London, and the lapsing of a CSS machine in each of those MPU's was seen as a method to ensure that mail would not reach DO's early, thereby justifying later start times.

I don't think any of this has been agreed the firm is just doing it as normal,i don't think this is the only office that is going through it i believe that there is more in the pipe line,even where i am they are trying it.

It would seem that someone wants the machines moved from DOs to MCs - now that opens new issues regarding deliveries. It is currently classed as indoor work and that or at least some of it would disappear - there is also moves afoot to move Sundays shift from DOs to MCs and if that proves itself who knows?

Obviously if there is the capacity to do the work in the MC, if you are a union bod in an MC that is where you would want the work.
He will find himself at odds with his union colleague in a delivery office because he will want the work to remain in his delivery office.

I assume these machines were installed in DOs in the last couple of years.
I assume there was an associated cost to installing them, planning the duties to staff them etc and there will be an associated cost to removing machines and duties again.
To the casual observer it seems like a monumental waste of time, money and resources.

The plan hatched then appears to be unravelling.
Are the plans unravelling because the changes to the postal industry are so seismic that plans cannot actually be made more than a few months in advance?
Were they never realistic in the first place?
Does anyone have a clue what they are doing?

Or is everything now just a RM vesion of the Hokey Cokey.

With our machines they have decided that we are looking at loosing them,the implications are far wider than all may see,drivers that may be placed in areas to run mail around will have to be looked at,it is not just the out come for the poor machine staff that are based in DO's,also the nearest MC is incapable of processing the mail, so for us nothing is looking good,i think the management of Royal Mail need to get their act together! i can't imagine how much money they are wasting they should leave it alone until they can say hand on heart that they are doing the best for it's customers not just bolstering their ego with macho testosterone fueled bluster.
