Patellar Tendonitis

Post by taurus88 »

Just been diagnosed with this.

Doctor says I should 'rest' but didn't sign me off work.

Where do I stand in terms of absence if I ring in and say I'm not going to work because of said tendonitis? I know you can self-certify for a week but will they expect proof anyway?

Where do I stand on this sh*t? It seems pretty clear to me that I shouldn't be going into work and aggravating the condition. Doctor says take the prescription for 10 days then see how it goes.

no proof is needed for upto seven days as like you said, you self certify.

if it goes over that then no, you still don't need proof for the reason for your time off, just tell them that you have seen the DR and he has advised you to rest your injury, either way it could still trigger a stage warning as we don't know your sick record :)

take the time off if you can, and see what happens, your DIM will probably try and force you into work but stick to your guns.

why didnt he give you a sick note or at the very least a fit note??

you need to explain to them that even indoor duties involves walking around pushing heavy stuff about.

That was a fair old limp you had on you today, nearly offered to give you a lift in the back of the van.

Sandy: "It's a cheerful philosophy and I've heard it from people before. They're all dead now."
Monkey "Excuse me when I say, that you really are extraordinarily dim!"

I'll be on a stage one after this for definite. This will be my fourth absence, and though I've only had five days off previously, they were for three different niggles. It goes to show that the RM attendance procedure is pretty b*llocks when you can have more time off than somebody else, yet not be on a stage one whereas the other, (more) regular attendee, would be on a stage one. Not that I'm bothered at all about a stage one - take the stage and get on with life. More importantly, I'll be taking as much time off as I feel I require before my knee/patella feels like a part of my leg again! I came out of work yesterday and it felt like somebody had installed a tennis ball between my knee and my shin.

Yeah, you and every other f*cker (about a dozen vans) that drove past nearly offered, I'm sure!

It was a bugger but it sure as hell was better than working. The thing is I've got a lump underneath my knee at the moment that is visible to the naked eye. The pain itself has started to recede now I'm bashing down ibuprofen and what-not, but frankly, I feel as if every joint from the waist down is fairly f*cked at the moment. I've been reading up a lot on tendonitis and am starting to wonder if I only have it in my knee. I didn't really mention to the doctor about my other joints because I was primarily concerned with the knee, which may according to the doctor require further analysis once the tendonitis itself has cleared up. Whatever the case may be, I'll have to sit at home and wait and see. To be honest, I wouldn't have ordinarily gone into work but I was already in the neighbourhood when I rang in and thought I might as well get in there and deal with the sham of it all. ATOS, blah blah, physio, whatever. Maybe we should wait and see whether the real doctor's advice and treatment bears fruit before bringing in the cowboys.
