DELIVERY METHODS REVISIONS

It has come to our attention that Royal Mail have now adopted a different approach to delivery revisions within the BS Area.

Over the past year we have used the introduction of revisions to ensure that one in four Saturday’s away from work has been introduced as well as new duty attendances such as the nine day fortnight. (This provides a long weekend every four weeks). As part of this we have also been able to limit the length of some attendances on a Saturday.

Additionally we have tried to protect earnings levels wherever possible and ensured that Royal Mail honour the national commitment to a 75%:25% full-time: part-time ratio. This has meant that a number of part-time people have had the opportunity to go full-time.

Royal Mail have now decided to ignore the terms of the national “Business Transformation” agreement and are taking a completely different position. This may be due to recent management changes but DOMs and others, are now openly quoting that nine-day fortnights are no longer an option and that the agreed percentage of full-time and part-time jobs is not on offer.

It appears that their intention is to cherry pick the parts of the agreement they like whilst ensuring your unit gets none of the benefits.

We are also experiencing a push to even later Saturday times based on fictitious arrival times for walk sequencing mail. These bear no resemblance to reality.

We have informed the employer that we will not accept revisions that merely introduce the parts of the agreement they like, without delivering the full benefits to you. If management do not change their line then it will undoubtedly mean conflict.

As a result we will be holding gate meetings over the next two weeks so that you can be sure what is at stake. The times of these meetings will be advertised soon.

And not exactly anything new across the country.
Problem is it's been allowed to slide in other areas as Royal Mail knew it would while the union did it's "federal" every area for itself/local agreement/bottom up union thing.

It has come to our attention that Royal Mail have now adopted a different approach to delivery revisions within the BS Area.

I think this is much wider spread, with say half the method revisions in place and most people fed up with the job, RM are now moving in for the kill. They are not now afraid to break agreements that provide staff with better shift patterns protect full time jobs ect.. They think the country is already devided and defeated and that the union will get little support in trying to get RM to stick to agreements. But i think this IS the time that we should all unite and get RM to stick to every detail of this agreement word by word and get postmen some of the benefits that are in it. We know we are not going back to 2 deliveries but we should fight the pace of change

In 2010 it was all just a misunderstanding,a different interpretation,a mix up over words or a few rogue managers.
They can't even be arsed making up an excuse now.

Do you know if we should expect an updated national position or will it be more of the same policy of "keep it regional,hope it resolves itself" from HQ?
It would be nice if we were showing our employer that an injury to one etc....
