My understanding is your entitled paid time off to attend. My dom lets me have the day off if necessary. Maybe he just likes me!

My POV

For appointments where you have no control over the time / day , eg hospital, then if it is in duty time then you should be able to take it.

For those where you have a choice such as Dentist, Optician then it should be in your own time, for those of us on shifts then an AM or PM slot is typically viable but for 9 to 5ers then that is trickier.

Problem there is that all annual leave is already booked up till April 2014 so i guess you'll need to book your hospital appointment for after that.

I have a minor hospital appointment coming up in November and have already been told that i wont be given time off to attend but its minor enough that i shouldnt need more than a day off fingers crossed so i'm hoping i can switch my day off when it comes around. My loop partner is already on a warning for a hospital appointment she had last year.

what time the appointment and how long. If it half hour just turn up to work then stop 30 minutes before appointment then go to hospital and carry on work when appointment finished. Assuming this is doable.

The strikers are also calling on management to hold negotiations with reps on a unilaterally-imposed change in policy on staff hospital visits.

Previously, staff were allowed sufficient paid time off to attend hospital: now they are being forced to go to hospital in their own time. Members say this only increases workers’ worry and stress.

I wonder what the outcome with the hospital visits was.
