Managers wont be replaced by part timers, its management that make the decisions.

We have one manager who is part time working 24 hours, weekends - 12 Sat, 12 Sun. He is paid less than the other managers who work on weekends, who do 24 hours but are actually paid for 40 and classed as full time. Managers in mail centres have lots of free time. New attendance patterns for them when one manager is ok instead of two (why do they need buddies?) and cross overs between shifts/dispatch times when busy periods would need the second manager would save a lot of money. Some could be on 4 day 10 hour shifts. Others could really be on 5 day 5 hour shifts.

I'm sure it would be a lot easy if they just paid them off. Most of them are ex-posties(failed) that shouldn't be considered for managerial posts withing RM. Sadly rm keep promoting slightly heavy, useless posties who are only good at bullying and harassing staff into lapsing and what ever else they can find so they do as little work as possible.
And they think they know better because they have a suit on. I'm sure they all work for RM.

yes but they could save money and use cardboard cut outs to stand with there arms folded to try and pressure you on ips etc.

Pay a manager twice as much as an OPG for doing half the work. Some fantastic business accumen in Royal Mail isn't there?

At our gaff, over many years we have cut duties, hourage, and employee numbers, and we are "told" mail volumes are well down. Despite this clearly leading to less work that requires managing, not one minute of managerial duty time has been cut. Business logic and common sense would inform that such management numbers and its associated costs are an excess a business can do without. But not in Royal Mail. How queer.
