Park and loop problems in my office where managers wont fix the problem because they are to busy thinking how to get mail and packets out.
I am in a Manchester office getting paid till 2 30pm yet there is one park and loop team coming back a hour and half before their time every day and the managers say nothing about it but they are paying other staff to deliver packets left in by others.



I was under the impression that if you came back early they would give you more work if they had it? Well they have more work but these two posties can go home.

This tells me the planner has not got the walks right as other teams are out till 4pm and 5pm why don't the managers deal with it?
Fair is fair why should they go home a one hour and a half before others? we all get the same pay.

The point I am making is we all work our time and the managers need to get a grip of the ones finishing early.

There are four to five people coming in early on the IPS sorting getting paid for it yet when you look at their frames they have their walks fully thrown off when the rest of the posties come in.

So managers say its working in my office? well here is a few questions for them.
Why are they paying 4/5 people coming in early on the IPS if its working?
Why are they paying people for going over everyday if its working?
Why is people cutting off everyday if its working?
Why are packets and tracked getting left in everyday if its working?
Why is there staff legging it out the door delivering mail and packets on their break if its working?

Exactly the same in my office.

We've even got people being paid OT to come in early to throw their walks off and then finishing early everyday.

Others leave part of their walk and then come back early.

Because those guys are getting it done the managers won't want to upset them or else they will also cut off or go over. It is possible that their p & l round is just as big as the others but you will always get idiots who race round and are unusually fast.

i bet you the ones finishing early are part timers and are doing overtime..... So it probably has nothing to do with the walks, it's just that these part timers have to rush round to get a few more hrs in to get upto full time, and still finish at a reasonable time.......... Well that's my theory, coz that's what I do.....

No they are two full timers that are doing this not helping their workmates what they are doing, what they are trying to prove is beyond me.

1. People being brought in to help the IPS (the indoor operation) was always part of the plan with a low "model week".
If your model week is set for 50 000 items, every week you have more than that you will need p/t staff in early to help prep/IPS/whatever.
2 + 3 + 4. Depending how your model week was set and what attendance rates/call rates were used, extended deliveries/cutting off/failures were always possible. The system is designed to fail. The system only works with a degree of "flexing up." When an office doesn't want to or can't flex up sufficiently (this is a possibility if the model week/packet count are too low or where the skills base is poor) then the whole thing is in danger of going pear shaped.

Its not working in the office where I work either I dont worry about it any more as it just gets you stressed , just go in on time do your hours & a bit of OT if you want , if you dont want OT then break off , simples its best not to worry about what others are doing as its up to them - we all have people who want to impress the boss & run around just do your bit & go home each day

True Story

2 Full time posties on P/L go out on Monday and finish early so Postie 1 decides to do a bodyswerve and go home.
Postie 2 Drops him off.
Postie 2 takes van/739'd items etc. back to DO. Manager asks where Postie 1 is. Postie 2 said "Just dropped him off outside"
Manager rings Postie 1 at home.
Postie 1's father answers the phone, Manager askes to speak to Postie 1. Father said " Don't want to disturb him, he's fast asleep in bed!"
