Neighbours,Recycling and the Final Score..

Well we did the ceremonial changeover of the P739 cards today.
Old P739's in the bin.
Where are Royal Mail's green credentials now?
I will get my Green Titoist friend on the case.
We could have continued to use the old cards in circumstances where we didn't deliver to neighbours.
Obviously the inference is we are too thick to handle such a complex decision.

Anyway final score was.
Items P739'd and returned to the D.O.....13
Items delivered to neighbour.................0
I'd like to say it was a game of two halves but it wasn't even close.

The ceremonial changeover took place in Cambuslang as well.
We had to hand the old 739s to a manager who tore them up and put them in a bin.
I put mine in the recycling.

I left 1 with a neighbour today! Only because the lady next door to where I was going stuck her head over the hedge and said she would take it. So I filled the slip in and ticked the new box - woooo!

All other parcels P739'd - there were cars in the drive but no lights were on in the houses so I made an executive decision that as it was a nice day they must be out for a walk so it wasn't worth going to knock

twelve specials/rcds/30+ pkts. 2 left with neighbours, nothing new there as they have been taking them in for ten years. Rest P739. Working on the basis that if the neighbouring houses are on the same drive or very little walking will try and get rid of, but anything else p739.

i'm worrying it'll take too long, walking backwards and forwards to check which neighbours are in and then returning there with a P739 IF you can leave it with a neighbour.
And so far i've returned everything, on the executive decision that i don't trust anyone, and its my neck on the line, that and i cant be bothered walking backwards and forwards.

Can i get into trouble for sending everything back to the office?
obviously i feel more comfortable doing this as its not going to go missing.

This new system has not been mentioned in our office. The managers are just chuffed if the stuff leaves the office (not an everyday occurance) nevermind where it goes after that

I've not left any with neighbours so far and don't intend to start doing so.

The poor sods who work in our locker are bored out of their minds with nothing to do all day as it is, I feel it's my duty to bring them a few packets back off delivery, just to liven up their day and justify their existence, it gives me nice warm feeling when I see their little faces light up as I walk into the office with a sack full of returned packets for them.

But why didn't Royal Mail realise that with the extra time involved "down to the discretion of the OPG" means that the OPG will not try the neighbour ?
They may as well not have brought the new scheme in.
