Your members send a vote of no confidence to your Branch.
Your Branch then arranges a meeting where they can air their grievances and you can put your side of the argument.
Then they vote again. And if they still pass a vote of no confidence then you are toast.
That's how it is supposed to work in our Branch. Yours might have different rules.

You could pre-empt things by calling a meeting yourself and asking your members for a mandate to continue.
Usually these things amount to nothing more than bitching by one or two personalities but if the members really want you out they will tell you at the meeting and if that's the case i would resign rather than get branch involved.
If you do ask for a vote of confidence try to make it as democratic as possible with voting papers,a ballot box and everyone possible getting a vote.
There's nothing more embarrassing than a show of hands where everyone is watching whose hand goes up before they commit.

Well...when we tried to oust the useless rep we had complete with a petition sent to the branch sec it got ignored and the sec sent a note back with "You should frame this ha ha" to the rep, which I thought was a bit out of order so we had to put up with said useless t.urd bringing in Park and Loopy and generally turning a blind eye to all the crap going on at our shitehole.

But he's gone now thank feck.

Send a request to chairperson with ten names requesting special general meeting. With proposal and seconder. Please ensure that your ten turn up, as the rep will have his mates to help him. ask for a ballot of no confidence if this is passed at the meeting a decent rep would resign his post asap. However votes of no confidence are not good for branches or the union in general. It shows management that there is discontent and division among members on shopfloor and encourages more contentious decisions and tactics by the management. Finally If you are going to go for a no confidence vote please have someone ready to step into the position or things will get a lot worse.
