in my d.o. north east uk we have 310 people . satellite offices for various rural villages work from our office.From the outset we have stated that working to rule would grind the office to a halt within 48 hours.without cars people and pouches would be much later going out on delivery,resulting in a domino effect.not working past their time would mean people bringing back half the mail with managers not knowing how much and unable to make contingency plans.TOTAL CHAOS and nobody losing £60 per day.WHAT DOES,NT ANYBODY LISTEN TO US:WE TOLD THE UNION OFFICIALS WE WANTED TO WORK TO RULE!

with respect you can do that yourselves without the union telling you i have no problems with the strike action myself as it that alone that gets reported in the media (at least in some of the media). It also aids the buildup creating a backlog of mail so has a domino effect. So i hope you can galvanise the support of members and get everybody out in the vans

hate to say it but in our office people who backed the strikes last time are saying quite openly that they are going into work this time they feel that the cwu has let them down, they have made no contact with there members for weeks and they feel that royal mail is screwing the union , and my feeling is that once some go back there will be more and more and the dispute will be over,we would have lost and the union will be powerless in the future
the future is bleak !!!

Same here, but please point out to them especially the ones with crap sick and attendance records, that if they come in and scab, who'll defend them the next time they tirgger a stage...Also that coming in will be no protection from the new regime...Management don't care, you, me and they are just numbers, pions to be dicked around with....I understand the lack of communication is frustrating. I know I was fuming for two weeks when the talks broke down and we heard nothing...But if we back down now, we'll all be working unpaid overtime and paying :lfo :cfo mortgages on their holiday villas.

Firstly the problem with Work to Rule is that it is nearly impossible to police, the more vunerable members in the office will get bullied into completing their delivery. Others will say no and a DOM will suspend them, when that happens the rest of the office will walk and you then have an un-official strike on your hands. Exactly what Royal Mail want!!!!!

Secondly i would never ever advise anyone to take mail out then bring it back. Tell the manager you will not be working beyond your finish time for that day and do not leave the office until he has agreed to get rest of your walk covered. If you take mail out and bring it back managers say 'willful delay of mail' straight away!!! and you will end up in the s**t!!

Doing the job properly will shaft the system within any office in very short time.

how many times do i have to say this DO the JOB properly you wont get susspended for cutting off as long as you have advised your DUM or lino before you go out, its then for them to manage the situation ie. tell you to leave some mail behind or go out and bring it back. RM have tried every type of intimidation tactic going at watford and we have resisted. They cant force you to stay out beyond your duty time. GET ON THE VANS do the job to the best of your ability!!! and bring it back. make sure you have your meal relief before you go out etc etc. Follow the examples of Southend, Watford & Stretham SW16 : :cfo :lfo
