RM Clamping down at last?

Just been talking to one of my ex-colleagues, apparently the office had a visit from the DSM who has told everybody that, from next Monday, anyone caught not using the HCTs/LWTs etc will be taken down the disciplinary code.

As I've posted on here before, ever since the revision last October, people have been using bikes, bag on shoulder and even private cars on delivery. The DSM said that the office is now spending more than pre-revision and everyone must now go back to van share (the 4 day walks had solo vans!) and do the job as planned.

So it looks like RM are finally clamping down, or could it be a cost thing?

My pal reckons that all the casuals will be busy next week!

if its coming from the dsm with threats of conduct if not compliant i would guess someone has emailed moya complaining they were being "forced" to do the duty without a trolley, it would be unlikely dsm would go down this route unless pressure from above

16Kg - if you are doing deliveries of over 3.5 hours then you are disregarding a H&S instruction. Possible outcomes: (not exhaustive)

1. Sacked for failing to comply with a reasonable instruction.
2. Being blamed for an injury caused by an AOD because your bags were overweight (should be 8kg if your duty is planned to be pouches)
3. Reduction in any compensation claim or even dismissal of such if you get a condition caused or exacerbated, by carrying pouches when you have been instructed not to do so.
4. Not being able to use the AOD clause if you reach a stage 3. Especially if the manager decides It was your choice to carry overweight bags that directly caused,or had an impact on the severity of the accident.

went to asda today, i can't understand why poeple insisit on shoving those trolleys round , just run round with your shopping on your back its much quicker, 16 kilos is only about 30lbs in real money,how cancarrying that 4hours a day indefinately be harmful

That's nothing, I went with the missus down to B&Q in the car and bought 6 breeze blocks. While walking back to the car I decided I wanted to walk the 5 miles home, so I told the missus to drive home without me. I had a lovely walk home along the river, carrying my 6 breeze blocks. Perhaps I should have given the breeze blocks to my missus to take home in the car?

Right lads and lassies,

Two bags 16kg max then a max of 11kg for each subsequent bag and 9 kg if going up blocks of flats.

I am no superman and have been doing this job for 24yrs and fully use my bag drop facility.

I find the HCT s seemed to have caused just as much wear and tare on the body than anything else , eg bad backs pushing up hills etc.

I do the job to the letter take breaks etc and cannot see how this isn't doing the job properly.

In fact if we used this policy we would still have more staff on the payroll,as we would need more drivers and there would be less stress on the job.
