can someone clarify...
Hi, I started with royal mail in June 2011. During my 6 month trial period I had 7 days sick during the month of November. Didn't have any problems or receive stage warnings. Ive been with rm well over 12 months now and Ive not had any other says sick since then, until today (28/09/2012).
Can I assume I still won't recieve any stage warnings because going back over the past 12 months from today I've only had 7 days sick. Excluding the one today.
Any help or advice would be grateful as the whole process is abit confusing. For instance the difference between abscences and individual days.

you didnt receive a stage for the 7 days(though as a trialist could have)1. MINIMUM NATIONAL STANDARDS - NEW ENTRANTS ON TRIAL
With employees new to Royal Mail it is important to establish quickly a clear
understanding of the need to maintain appropriate standards of attendance.
Attendance may be regarded as warranting formal action if an employee who is on
trial has:
Stage 1: 2 absences or 7 days in a 6 month period
Stage 2: 1 absence in the next 2 months
Stage 3: 1 absence in the next 2 months
No trialist should have his/her appointment confirmed whilst under this procedure.
2. MINIMUM NATIONAL ATTENDANCE STANDARDS - EMPLOYEES NOT ON TRIAL
Employees who have successfully completed their trial period are still required to
maintain a high standard of attendance. Attendance may be regarded as
warranting formal action if an employee who is not on trial has:
Stage 1: 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period
Stage 2: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months
Stage 3: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months
1 absence of 4 days or less will mean removal from the procedure.
its been over 6 months since then, and I assume you are now not on trial?
If so your sick record should be from this present absence

Yeah my trial period was for 6 months...says so in my contract...that would of been june 2011 to December 2011. The period my 7 days came in but I didn't recieve a stage. I only had a back to work issued. No interview, nothing. So my abscence actually now restarts from now?

You had 7 days absence in November 2011.
If you have another 7 days or 3 absences before November 2012 you will trigger a stage.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Yes again.
Sick absence works on a rolling 12 month basis.
Tomorrow it will be 29/09/2011-29/09/2012.
Any absences in that period will count towards your stage.

I had two weeks certificated absence prior to my having been there for 6 months. This was due to a knee injury sustained when I came off my RM bike whilst on a round. Do the stages still apply?

Yes - but they may decide not to issue a stage if they determined that it was an Accident on Duty and you were not to blame.Lazycarton wrote:I had two weeks certificated absence prior to my having been there for 6 months.
