atos ringing tomorrow after 1 day sick

had accident at work {see previous post} now my manager says atos are going to ring me tomorrow i have a sick note for 1 week and only been off 1 day, already feel harrased. is this normal after accident at work

I would say receiving support from ATOS after just one day sick is a good thing.

I'm leaving tomorrow under IHR and all I can say is that Atos were brilliant even asking for a second opinion on my left knee which has resulted in me needing a full knee replacement much sooner than my doctor and I envisaged.

I know my case wasn't an accident but you may find that Atos contacting you so soon may well work to your benefit.

yeah they were great with me to i just told them what had happened and if they could ring me back in a few weeks when i could tell them some more info when i found it out of me doctor

ATOS is a very expensive resource to use after one day sick.
Have managers lost the ability and remit to manage sick absence themselves?
Perhaps a discussion with the employee to determine whether they felt support was needed would have had the dual effect of engaging the employee in the process and potentially saving a costly and unnecessary referral.
Unless,of course there is a darker reason behind such early and constant referrals to ATOS?

Not particularly in your case smurf but there has been a huge increase in IHR dismissals over the past 3-5 years.
It would seem that this,along with conduct dismissals is Royal Mail's preferred method of streamlining the business.
It's much cheaper than MTSF,you are not tied to justifying the reduction in headcount and without the need to worry about seniority it's much easier to target and get rid of those problem cases that might require "reasonable adjustments" in the future.
Just an opinion.

ATOS seem to be an absolute pleasure to deal with if your intention is to leave the business,if you want to stay....not so much.

I couldn't agree more,but in my case Atos were very good and due to the condition of my knee and plus the fact I'm rapidly approaching 60 IHR was the ideal option and I am happy with the outcome.

You are correct permission is required but only verbal now not a signed consent as it used to be.

Indeed Himaggen...it's called requesting informed consent and it even applies to telephone "consultations".

If this is true, which seems ridiculous in the current climate of privacy laws, inform anyone who calls claiming to be from ATOS that you have not consented to them being in possession of your information and you will be taking appropriate action.

Verbal consent would help neither party opening up managers to bogus accusations of lying and opening staff up to...lying managers.
It benefits no-one and if a member was willing to give verbal consent they would be willing to tick 4 boxes and sign it so i agree...it sounds ridiculous enough to be true.
