Special Deliveries

I think I've posted a Special Delivery letter by accident without getting a signature for it, because it was a letter and not a package i must've just posted it without thinking, where as when i have a package i usually see that SD sticker staring me in the face.
Has this happened to anyone else before? What should i do, i mean will it come back to me>? keep quite or tell a manager?

Be honest now and tell a manager. Can you go back to the address and try to get a signature for it now?

Definitely do tell the manager.

You hopefully shouldn't get into any trouble about it if you've got a clean record and a reasonable DOM.

I once posted 3 specials through in one day!! Haven't got a clue how I managed it, told the DOM and never heard any more about it.

Just 'fess up to the guys in your locker room/office and if you are on the same round, you can kindly ask the householder to sign or use the PDA.

More likely, the office will tell you not to worry about it - unless, of course, there is a come-back from addressee or sender: some customer might try to exploit the situation. But these things happen - don't worry!

I lost a special once and I'm still in the job three years later. Inform your manager as soon as possible.

99.9 % chance that absolutely nothing will happen so why tell the manager and get in his pocket? If something does happen you can then say that you must have posted it by mistake. If you have a good record and been in the job a while, no-one is going to assume that you just decided to nick a special, so you are not going to get into any more trouble than you would have if you'd informed the manager earlier.
Running and telling management for every mistake you make will just make you look incompetent. Of course if you'd posted it to the wrong address or lost it, this is a different story and you'd have to inform management immediatley.

Like I said, it is the locker room folks that should know... I know they can tell whether a tracked mail has been scanned but I don't know about specials - these days with PDAs.

Its way too late to do anything about it now i finished my walk like 4 hours ago. I was just thinking about it now, don't know why i didn't realize at the end of my shift? I'm sure i had a certain amount of specials and was missing one signature? My mind was just on other things today, and because it was a letter i must've just posted it because i just put specials in with the normal mail as i usually see its a special before putting thought the door, I don't think it was a valuable special, if i remember correctly it was just an A4 size envelope?
Yeah we still use cards.

How could you forget them if the first letter for that address is turned? I once posted a SD doing just what you did and got 1 year on my record so stopped doing that.

Turn them along with recordeds and tracked. You will then notice when you get to them. Much easier and quicker than keeping them separate.

I posted a special by accident a few weeks ago. It was one of those German ones that dont "look" like a special. It was a small letter sized packet and i had posted it without noticing.

I was about 3/4 way through round when i realised i was down a special but didnt for the life of me know where it had gone so when i got back to the office i owned up. Boss wasnt too pleased obviously but i found out there is a way to track them down.

I'm told specials are scanned into the locker with a certain level of traceability. I had 3 that day, it was a light day and they could tell me which streets i had specials for. I knew where i had delivered the other two so it was narrowed down to a single street and i had only posted a package to a single house in that street. So i drove back out, knocked the door, got it scanned and signed for. Job done.

I suppose i took a chance owning up but it was the honest thing to do.

It will flag up as not delivered and it has also failed the 13:00 deadline so your manager will approach you regardless best thing is just alert him make him aware of your mistake either way you will have to explain
