Never having saturdays off?

Hello,

Just wondered what the situation is for me, im on a 25 hour tempary 3 month contract which has been extended... been employed for 6 months. I was told i will have a rotating day off and 1 in 6 saturdays off but since starting i have not had any saturdays off and my days off during the week are all over the place! Its starting to take its toll on me and not being able to plan ahead is driving me insane. I looked through my contract and theres nothing there about having days off.... asking my managers is useless as they tell me that because i dont have my own round they cant give me them.

I seem to be bending over backwords for them.... 45hour weeks because of overtime since P&L which is starting to wind me up! Not cutting off to help them out and going out on round till 5:30 as i dont know the area, once i didnt leave office till 11:30 as the frame was such nightmare to throw in. IM owed travel exspences, a days pay as i didnt get payed for a bank holiday, i didnt get payed for my training... the list goes on.

Going off track here anyway! Main question is about the 1 in 6 saturdays off? am i legally entitled to them?

same happens with me, they quote "operational costs" only way i managed to get it sorted was to effectively "cut off".

in regards to 1 in 6 you need to be in the union to get someone to fight on your behalf for this.

bit worried on this meself,,,,,soon to have a revision an i will be spare,,,not even a float,,,im fulltime ,,,,,so back to spare it will be mondays and tuesdays of every week,,,gunna push it myself to get something sorted before hand over days off

Why?
Seniority has nothing to do with how many saturdays you have off.
Lazy managers,lazy reps and an office that doesn't give a toss does.

Course it does, its seems by his post he is a reserve so in that case if he is there long enough to get walk he will know his day off every week instead of all over the place like he says then he will get his Saturdays.

Completely wrong... If the office has a 1 in 6 ... then the OPG is entitled to it. Full stop . Square root of F - all about being a reserve

dont think it really matters how long your service is,,,,,i`ll have 7 years in at the revision,,,6 years on me present walk,,full time,,,,,but with the revision i dont get a pick due to 25% of part time getting a pick,,,non of which have more than 5 years in,,,,we have no part time staff with more seniority......so they get a walk,,,,i go to spare i know this cos ive seen the list of staff and picks,,,,im spare not knowing what i`ll be on from day to day,,,,that bit i dont think is fair,,, i work 5 days a week,,,never work my day of,,,so do like weds,,,thurs,,,,yeah the heavy days of course but also they break the week up,,,,but watching ours spares now i`ll be getting a lot of mons and tues

If you get a lot of Mondays and Tuesdays use the grievance procedure.
It specifically states in BT2010 that reserves should be included in the 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Im having the same problem, had 4 tuesdays off in a row, managers talk to you like crap. I am very close to putting in a grievance, i just dont no the best way to do it.

This is my major issue with the revision.
I've had a walk for 4 years before we had our revision and have been used to getting 1 in 6 saturdays and rotatin g day off, both of which I was told I would get at my original job interview.
Since the revision, I have been a reserve/spare and have not had any saturdays off in six months and don't know from week to week what my day off will be.
I have had every day of the week off several times, except saturdays which proves to me that it is a deliberate policy to deny reserves saturdays off.
It is unfair, and unjust.
Union rep says I should get them, manager says reserves just get random days.
It's impossible to plan anything and impossible to get away for weekends.
I am hopeful that the rep will pursue this further shortly, alternatively I will be considering submitting a grievance.

Like Clash says if you have had a revision...

It specifically states in BT2010 that reserves should be included in the 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Like Fishtank says regardless of revision...
