The Park & Loop Pressure cooker!

I'm not against p & l per se, but since our revision it is causing some very ugly behaviour from management. I can't tell whether the pressure is coming from above the local mangement to make them act this way, or it is just the way they are as individuals? Long standing good posties that are generally known as good fast workers, being called lazy and useless, behind their backs, just because they are cutting off.
I was/am generally in favour of modernisation, but the management are proving themselves incapable of dealing with it.
People are constantly having to justify themselves without any justification from the other side, it is a stacked deck against us with the sole intent of trying to get us to work for free.

I'm starting to think that if this carries on the way it has, then it could become viable for a very large group of posties to take RM to the high court for violation of numerous employment laws as well as some human rights!

Cutting off is very hard for DUM's to manage thus they hate it, working overtime is the lovely easy option for them.

So keep cutting off, as much as possible and let them get the s**t from above. :-)

Managers cannot grasp the mathematics behind Park&Loop.
They truly believe that if you bolt two 4hr deliveries together and send two posties out in a van to do it in loops it should take 4hrs.
When it takes 4.30hrs or even 5hrs even without the add ons of packets and tracked they become very confused.
If you try to explain the inefficiencies behind motorised dual delivery methods they become frightened and panicky.
When any animal becomes confused,frightened and panicky it will lash out in a bid to protect itself.
The thing to do is talk calmly using soothing tones and try not to make any sudden movements.
I've heard castration can also help.

The issues seem to come indoor, not enough IPS against what actually comes through the door, or not enough prep time once D2D go above 3-4 items. The solution seems to be Bully & Harass the members stand behind them with stopwatches and generally accuse them of not working in an acceptable manner. The answer????? Not all of the rights set out in the Convention and its Protocols are incorporated into British law by the Human Rights Act 1998. The HRA only incorporates the rights in Articles 2 to 12 and in Article 14 of the Convention, plus those in the First and Sixth Protocols. The incorporated rights are set out in the First Schedule to the HRA and are referred to as ‘Convention rights’.

Article 4: Prohibition on Slavery and Forced Labour. This article is incorporated innto British Law and, I would assume, that working for free is FORCED LABOUR.

I would say rounds down south are more like 75% than 90% , about 25% cut off in most offices as an average with a higher percentage on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The major problems start when you have a some posties off sick so they pull people off the IPS to do the throwing off of the absentees round and this then slows everything up.

Exactly. And add to that the crazy later start times, the guaranteed next say special remaining at 1:00PM and the need to be in two towns miles apart at the same time. Actually, make that THREE towns. Yes, there is a duty in my office that delivers to parts of THREE towns/villages, and often all three get 1:00pm specials. It's not unusual to leave the office at 11:00am
