Post by Andy85 »

Im on a 5 in 1 and was sick for 3 days during one of my weeks on, now i have been told that i have to work 3 days during my week off because otherwise i have not erned the first 3 days of my week off because i was sick and this is the policy for 5 in 1 aparantly.
Is this agreeded anywhere?

I take it by 5 in 1 you mean 1 week off in 6(Wallingtons).
If that's the case your manager is talking bollocks.
If someone is on the day off scheme they do not have to work their day off as some kind of pay back for sick so why would you?

This is the real policy for your attendance pattern not the bollocks your manager is spouting.

http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 94&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There is no need for any adjustment to attendances because of working days lost
to sickness. Obviously there is also no need for recording any sickness on days
off during the sixth ‘off’ week (which is equivalent to sickness at a weekend for
someone who works a Monday to Friday job), if no working days are affected.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I cannot believe the ineptness of RM management! They are terrible! Is it any wonder why the business struggles! Bad administration..top to bottom!

technically no as using a wallington week you are 'banking' one day per week to use as your week off

so if they wanted to be really arsey and if they could prove that one of the 3 days was the one you banked for that week then the most they could ask back was 1 day

as for the other 4 weeks you attended so you banked 4 days 'off' - as you attended for 3 days of the other week they would have to prove that one of the three days you did not attend was the day you should have banked

there was a policy for this but I have never seen it put into practice

had you been sick for 5 full weeks then resumed and announced it was your week off then they may have a case but for 3 days??? never seen it happen

I would file this in the 'trying it on' bin and ask your manager how he arrived at this figure - in the presence of your union rep - ( smile nicely and ask for it in writing)

that should sort it

When they started this, it was a lot for some to get their heads round. Not sure if we still do it either. Simply put, if you were off for a week on sick, a day had to be worked on your rota week. Every day you had sick basically equates to a hour owed. But as they say on here, a lot don't do it anymore.
