D O being relocated

Ok should get some straight forward and honest answers on here , our DO is going to be relocated in approx. 18 months time along with 3 other DO,s to follow as and when. We will be 12 miles from where we are now and have been told that only the full timers will have to travel to the new place, prep 2 walks then drive the 12 miles to pick up a part timer to do the walks, then drop the part timer back home and drive the 12 miles back.
Is there any one out there that has experienced a similar situation and what problems have they come across? Being part time myself am i expected to wait by my phone to get a call from the full timer to when they will be coming over, what i,m getting at is each day mail volumes vary so the times will vary plus the person your teamed up with could be a slow at prepping and so on.
Oh yeah forgot, been told today that when the move has been completed that there will be 360 walks in the same building, so thats an extra 360 vans on the road, very cost efficient .

Does your duty start from the time your partner picks you up?
Will you know your start and finish times from one day to the next?

We're locating over 20 miles away sometime and have been told the full time rurals will prep the towns walks, drive the 20 miles back and load their trollies on the street somewhere , at sometime then go on to do their delivery, doing final collections as all collection staff are to go (where? ), drivers to meet up somewhere and load some of the vans with collected mail and take it to the new office for despatch through the very town that has had it's office closed!

Surely one positive to come from this would be that your delivery will have to be greatly reduced from the standard P&L delivery in order to factor in the travel time of 12 miles each way?
