Floaters still getting kicked off there own signed for duties by greedy selfish ,arrogant people working there days off on there jobs . Weve lost a lot of floaters now because of stress etc , would it not be a good idea for a floater to come in on there day off and work one of his floating duties and the knobhead has to forcibly do another duty he's never done? There is no reason why this shouldn't happen , and once they've done this duty /duties they can't moan they've never done it before etc.

I threw a major wobbler over this a couple of years ago when I was a floater and ended up going off with stress, got my own round when I returned and they haven't dared put me on a float again! If they ask me to work my day off now I always check with the floater if he's happy doing whatever job they want to put him on and if not, I do it instead.
Yeah I have done the same. You just have to kick up a fuss and, in my experience, they will usually back down. If asked to work my day off, I always make sure that it has been ok'd by the guy I am replacing. It's usually to cover another job within the little group of duties anyway.

Somewhere buried deep in the National Agreement there is a section which covers duty holders. Basically, and I was told this by my area rep, they cannot take you off the duty you signed for unless it is due to an unforseen circumstance. This doesn't mean that they can move you on to any duty they feel like just because they haven't bothered to train enough people to cover the duties. An example of what would be a good reason to move you onto another duty would be if a number of people went sick, and then it shouldn't really be for more than one day. Fair enough.

What you should do now is contact you rep or area rep and get them to sort it out for you. That's what you pay your dues for.

Regarding your question on break entitlement I believe you would be entitled to an extra 10 minutes on top of your 40, another 10 after 10 hours and so on. Good luck.
