Two Saturdays Off In Six

Is there an office out there that has chosen the "2 Saturdays Off In 6?". How is it working and any examples?

We have a few duties that are 2 in 6. If I recall correctly, they are 4 day weeks.

In our office, about half have 2 in 6 and half remain on 1 in 6. The 2 in 6 are mostly senior in length of service and still work Mon-Sat with the rotating day off,but with the added bonus of an extra sat during the six week cycle. This equates to approx an extra week and a half off for doing, in most cases, less work than before!
Their duties are supposed to finish at least 15 mins per day later than those on 1 in 6 but they don't. They tend to be mostly rurals with a couple of town duties and at present they are finishing on most days much earlier than the 1 in 6 people;up to 90 mins!
You can imagine that there is a growing resentment of a system which has given half the office an extra week and a half off a year for no extra work required. Management are aware but doing very little. Rep (2 in 6!) states ammendments coming but its a painfully slow process.
I would suggest that its not brought in unless the whole office changes or no one does! Certainly brings home the fact that most are concerned only with their own personal circumstances and sod the rest of you.

All our full timers have 2 in six, most part timers work Thu,Fri, Sat every week.

Full timers work every M,T,W with a variety of shifts and have T,F,S off in rotation. Part timers are generally 25 hrs and work 8hrs 20 per day and generally one does IPS and the other double preps. It was put to a vote and was accepted by the part timers - what can I say - for those people 1 in none was what BT2010 brought about. Prior to BT2010 they rotated MTW one week with TFS on the next week and plainly with a little cooperation you could arrange a week off with the opposite number doing 6 days on and 6 days off. As for headcount we have actually increased staff in the last two years but they are all part timers - it's about 60/40 now but some had their hours increased. The increase is due to new builds primarily, some duties did go but others were created.

Would this duty be suitable for a small office of 5 delivery/ 1 cover man?
We currently work 5 get the 6th week off but staff member is leaving and they want to reduce hours rather than replace him which messes up the every 6th week off.

In our office everyone except the manager (who I believe gets more) gets one saturday off every 6 weeks, on a rotating schedule i.e. if they are off on Friday one week then it will be Saturday the next, so every 6 weeks they get a long weekend because the rota goes back to Monday the week after. Everyone except me that is. I'm on a 4 day contract and have absolutely no idea when my days off will be from one week to the next. I've requested Saturday off next week for a wedding and I am betting it will be the only Saturday I get off this year.

We voted gto keep 1 im 6 as this would safegaurd full time jobs now they are sayimg that we need more part time staff and possible evr
