Recorded mess up

Hi everyone, this is completely my fault but I'm wondering what will happen. I basically wrote a slip for a recorded item, posted it AND the item by mistake (never done it before) and now the customer is saying they never received it

its a genuine mistake, and the lying bastards are trying to get something for free! similar thing happened to me when a neighbour signed for something with a scribble and the item went 'missing'.just tell the truth and should be no problem

I have to say I have never ever done this. What I do when I have to fill a "Form Left" card out is to drop the item onto/into my pouch and fill in the card. That way there is a definite action needed to actually pick the item and post it with the card. While its not impossible to do, it does make it less likely. #justasuggestion.

I posted an recorded by mistake once phoned office wrote on a different card posted by mistake never heard any more about it. now if it was a special i would be worried as its not relax should be ok

Because he would have scanned it with the serial number with the time on it and you would have sent the data NO ANSWER to the data base then the postie can tell his DOM he posted it by mistake all the proof is in the data base.

Easy way to avoid this, just write out the p739 before you leave and don't take the item with you, customers like it when we do that!

The proof of what? If he put a card and the item through the door by mistake and the customer says they never received it, they're implying that the postie stole it or lost it. If he scans it as no answer then puts it through the door by mistake, and they say they never received it, they're implying that the postie stole it or lost it. What's the difference?

The point is that the customer says they didn't receive it. Nobody would put a P739 through a door then steal it either.

I posted a special through a door once without realising as it was in my bundle, on a new walk, and I was working from the back of the bundle so didn't see the sticker. When I got back to office I told the manager what I thought had happened and he couldn't care less.

probably get ticking off...i posted a recorded letter by accident before. Told manager. Called me an idiot and that was it.

Your managers most likely won't give a s**t because it's just a recorded delivery. RD's don't really seem to be cared about for some reason. If it was a special, then it'd be a different story.

If it was a recorded letter, then the customer may have opened it without realising it was a recorded. Then now you've said you've put it through the door, they are thinking, what? Or, they are just c***s.

Very little will happen in my experience.
